Day#7 - Last Day to "Freda's Hive" (oops had day 6 on there, sorry)

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's supposed to snow all day Saturday here in Utah. So it is a good day to hunker down and sew.
Today's little prize is a tote bag. It is made with novelty and vintage fabric. I made several of these bags and then decided the oval bottom was too darn hard to keep making so that is when I came up with my "Mixed Bag to Quilt" pattern.
Lining is in green polka dot with a Freda's Hive label. I learned how to make linings fit a little better after making this bag so I will say as a disclaimer that the lining is somewhat large for the bag. But it is a prize so no complaining! Don't even ask! Nope, this picture above is not up for winning. Forget it. Last night my friend Flora brought me cookies and delicious smelling vanilla as a little care package. There is only one Flora and sorry, she's not a Freda's Hive giveaway prize either! These cookies rank right up there with best cookies ever. She told me she got the recipe at Pioneer Woman (who lives like the pioneer woman?- not me, isn't she is something else?). I can't think of a better cookie to take to friends at Christmas. Unless maybe it is peanut butter with a Hershey kiss. Love those, too.

Happy Weekend. We are done here today. If you don't see me Monday you'll know I'm still counting comments ;-).

You are nothing but amazing. You have done nothing but amaze me with all the the quilting ideas that you come up with! Simple designs that make beautiful items. I guess one doesn't have to spend hours and hours to come up with a wonderful project to make. Wish I had seen your blog earlier in the year, my friends may have had some real nice homemade gifts for Christmas. Oh well, next year! Great bag, Nanette. And guess what, you already made me win the recipe for the oatmeal cookies. I love oatmeal cookies. I know they're cookies and have loads of calories. But ... there's oatmeal in them so ... they're healthy so ... you get to eat more than one or two or three. I'm definitely going to make this recipe!
Good luck with all your comment countings! It was great fun, to come over on your blog these past few days. You will still see me after these wonderful days!

Hey Girl: you're the best! and your bags are too. Thanks for the creative week and Thanks for the tip on the cookie recipe, you wouldn't think finding a good cookie recipe and being able to make a great cookie could be so challenging, BUT last week I made the recipe off the choc. chip package, and I'd say they were some of the worst cookies I've ever had!!! My guy said that there was a spot on PBS with tips on making superb cookies. It's amazing he stayed tuned to listen to it, he's not a sweets fan, it may have even been a driveway moment! :) Take Care.

Love the little tote ~ you just can't have enough bags, can you?

What a nice gift from your friend! And I love her name too ... so old-fashioned and romantic. I love the Pioneer Woman. I think I would love to go back in time and live more simply ~ well except for the running water thing ... and the outhouse thing ... and maybe the electricity thing! LOL We do heat exclusively with wood but thats as far as it has gotten.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend. I am having my little Santa Cookie's apron giveaway today. And I hope today to make 4 little aprons for my nieces who are coming to bake cookies next week. So I'll be busy sewing too!

Christmas blessings,
