Bindings, Flimsies and Sweet Sue

It wasn't the best weekend to be madly poised under a quilt with needle and thread hand stitching binding on 2 quilts. August is not a good binding month. But I have a deadline.
Jamie's graduation quilt - done and bound. Yayyy. I couldn't hide it from her any longer. She really likes it and had the nerve to ask me to make a matching pillow. She's gotta be kidding!
Of course I enjoyed binding the plain red along the edges of the Christmas Cottage Quilt more. It was quite a large project for a hot summer day. But it is done, too. Yayyy.
Sugar Flower Sweetness above. I really adore this fabric partnered with my upcoming pattern. Depending on how my week goes I may start machine quilting it. This is a wall hanging size.
I finished a flimsy for the blue baby quilt I'm working on. This was quick and fun. Again, depending on my week I will start machine quilting this one soon, too. Thanks for your suggestions on finding the fabric to finish my sister's quilt. See above under the delightful Sue. I hope to work on Michelle's quilts next week. We'll see.

Can you believe how lovely that Sunbonnet Sue dishtowel is???? I love her! And orange and turquoise are two of my favorite color combinations, too. Nope. I didn't make her. The wonderful and talented Dawn of Piece and Love Blog sent her to me as a sweet treat. Sigh. I adore Sue in a ball gown. She's so cute. Thanks Dawn!!! It looks like Dawn used some of her vintage fabric for my sweet Suzie. Love it.

August is a bit warm for binding, that's for sure ... but hey, we're quilters and we sacrifice for deadlines!!! Living in SFL, we've only got about 2 months that are decent for binding; but I do it year round :) Can't wait to see that pattern and the SBS Discloth is adorable :)

Tks so much for visiting my Blog and for your kind comments ... I'm the gal w/the chenille daisy :) You asked how you applique chenille ... all I can say is "w/an abundance of patience!!!" (LOL) I'm doing it by hand w/quilting thread :) Via machine might have been a better choice, but I'm a gluten for punishment :)

Love all your projects! Can't imagine having all that fabric on my lap in this weather...you are a brave woman!

The baby quilt is darling, but I must ask...what is a flimsy?

Nanette congratulations on the finishes. I can't wait to see the new wall hanging you are creating.
And you know I just love, love the towel.

Lots of prettiness here, and it really looks like Christmas in one of those shots. A Christmas quilt is on my very long to-do list, but I'm not nearly as quick or as good as you at getting it pared down. :)

Congratulations on finishing your daughter's quilt. The pain is now over! Unless, of course, you do pillow cases.
Seriously, are you, Dawn and I girlfriends? I love everything quilty EXCEPT Sunbonnet Sue! Oh MY!! My friends have even teased me that they will someday (very far, far away) throw a Sunbonnet Sue quilt on top of my casket as a tease.

What a cute towel. I love that fabric on your Christmas quilt. I have lots of binding to be sewn on. It's sitting here waiting for me. It doesn't care that it's 97 today.

Awesome completions!! Too bad there aren't movie marathons (With the lights on) at the cinema's just for us quilters...that would be the best place to attach binding! (hey...an idea!)

I am still in search of waffle fabric to make some towels but have yet to find any.

Hah - and you thought you'd seen the last of the Eagles material, Nanette! I can't help but chuckle! Hey - a girl has to have matching sets!!
I had my Christmas cottage blocks out this afternoon trying to decide what to do!
Cheers!

Yes, it has been way too hot. Our ac went on strike yesterday, and I thought I would die. Luckily, it is working today.

You get so much done. It is impressive. I need to light a fire under myself these days. I feel like I spin circles running kids here and there---crazy!!

Have a great day. Julie

You are way too funny about your daughter's quilt. So are you going to make matching pillowcases??? I love all the little sneak peeks at your newest creations. They all look lovely. I just love the dotty fabric you chose for your sister's quilt. What is not to love about the dishtowel. Oh and by the way, we still have not hit 90 degrees here in New England yet this summer. The hottest day that we have had was in April, when it hit 90! Amazing, huh? I would love it to be just a tad bit warmer and less rainy than it has been.

Nanette....you accomplished so much this weekend! I can't wait to see your new pattern! Can you give me any ideas on where to get some flower sugar. My daughter and I both want some! Have a wonderful week!

Aw....c'mon..do the pillow, too. How hard can THAT be after you suffered through an entire quilt of the Eagles' fabric? LOL

I hadn't thought about how hot it will be to bind a quilt this month. I will be starting one next week: queen sized in batik. Oh well, I really want it done so I guess I will just have to suffer for my art. LOL

Sewing bindings is my favorite part of quilting, but it is a chore in August! I love that backing fabric on the Christmas quilt!

Awesome finishes, Nanette! Congratulations. How hard can a pillow be after doing an entire quilt? Bet you're making it as I write this.

Wonderful projects, and hooray that you finished them! Good for you! I think binding quilts this time of year is a miserably hot undertaking, but oh so worth it.
I'm looking forward to seeing your latest pattern - the sneak peeks are wonderful!
The dishtowel is adorable - Dawn does lovely work.
