A very Charming Fabric Friday

I really love patchwork, lots of fabric in a quilt, vintage and vintage reproduction fabrics. Fabric is my thing.
I received this little charm pack above from Japan this week. I think charm packs, even Japanese repros, give variety for value. Even though I would LOVE yardage of these beautiful prints, I can't afford them, can't use all that fabric, and can't store all that fabric. When I really like a line of fabric I choose a charm pack. Or when I find a supplier that makes up their own charm packs, I am interested. I notice that some online stores are making their own charm pack and fat quarter packs by combining different lines of fabric. What great marketing and in any economy I think many quilters like the idea of variety and value.
So I thought I would show some of the beauties in my little Japanese repro fabric charm pack mix. They are lovely. And the quality of fabric itself is excellent. They have such a nice texture.
This little charm pack combo has both prints, geometics and novelties. They speak to me in their colorful loveliness.
Several of the fabrics come in different color ways. But they are all yummy.
Gimme more.
And more. The bad news is they were hard to get and I can't even give you a link where you could get them. Maybe sometime. But for now I'm busy petting them and dreaming of things to make.
I really like RJR repros, too. Hey, I'm not a total fabric snob. I like domestic fabric, too! These Apron String prints are really pretty. I acquired them through the wonderful Jane. Jane's fabrics are always a great value and with these charms at under $6/per pack, you can't beat it. Even though the red fabric (underneath) is turned the wrong way - it is picket fence fabric. I have been looking for fence fabric for years. It was a very good value at Jane's too.
Jane is not only a great vendor but she is my friend, too. She's always doing sweet things for people. She sent me some treasures from her personal stash. She knows I really really love valentine fabric. Too sweet. Thanks Jane. This letter valentine piece is one I've never laid eyes on before. I adore it! Look at the cute little N reading the story. All of these will surely be loved and enjoyed.

It may rain here this weekend and in our climate rain is joyful. I may even have a chunk of sewing time this weekend. Enjoy!

Echoing everyone on "love the fabrics;" and I bet your mind is running at 100 miles an hour thinking of ways to use all these pretties :) Enjoy that rain and that "chunk of sewing time :)"

Hi Nanette-
I always love fabric fridays...and I agree that small amounts are the way to go. The largest cut of fabric I ever buy is a fat quarter.

All of my quilts are scrappy and I don't ever make a quilt from one line exclusivly.

Of course when it comes time for the border, binding and backing for the quilt I will buy yardage after the center is complete...although most of my borders are scrappy also!

Thanks for showing your new fabric finds!

I hope you are enjoying your applique...
x Lori

Nanette...I agree with you that charm packs are a great way to have a whole line of fabric. I like to buy those and then after drooling, I mean, oohing and ahhing over them, choose my favorites to add as borders, etc. Love all the fabric you shared! Have a great weekend!

I'd never had a charm pack until you sent one, but it was the first thing I wanted to cut into and sew with! Very inspiring to have lots of prints.

Charm packs are waaaay cool and all for the reasons that you mentioned, Nanette.

Love those Japanese fabrics simply because they're a little different from what we see all the time.

Thanks for sharing.

I love your fabrics! Sometimes I buy my fabrics from the states. Imagine, it costs half of what they charge here in Norway. Go figure!

WHat a great assortment of patterns you got! I'm with you, I love fabric!! I picked up a copy of Blogging for Bliss at the library this morning and you were mentioned in there as one of Pamkittymorning's favorite blogs! You probably knew that already, but I think it's pretty cool to have your name in a book!
Hope you have a good weekend.

Hi Nanette, I was just catching up on your last few posts...another great guild showing - and I just realized you have one of my blocks on the Christmas Cottage quilt - the finished quilt is so adorable!
I think planning any wedding - especially with as much as you have going on in your life - is hard - but you're doing a fantastic job! Love the invitations and the setting with the mountains in the background! It will certainly be memorable! And if I were you, I would wear those fantastic boots until they break in a bit - the last thing you want on that day is sore feet - LOL!
Cheers!
