Hello February

February was one of my favorite months when I was a kid. It was my best friend and my mother's birthday month (now I have a daughter with a Feb. birthday) and Valentine's Day. I have to say I always loved writing out those little valentines each year. Even though February is going to be a marathon busy month for me I'm excited to welcome the new month and get on with the action.
Over the weekend I finished my bedroom blocks for Red Riding Hood. I made some slight changes to streamline the construction and I am generally happy with how the blocks turned out.
As always, selecting the fabric is my favorite task. It really is fun to go through fabrics with the colors I'm looking for in mind and think "what would make good wallpaper?" or "what would make a good comforter for the bed?".
Fussy cutting the pictures and clock was fun as was attaching and adding finishing touches to them.
All I have left is making my wolf blocks and then deciding how I want to stage the blocks in the quilt.
Saturday I had a random act of kindness surprise in the mail from Stephanie. Stephanie always packages things with care and beauty.
Of course her work is perfection. I love the apples. They are so me. And the colors are beautiful and brilliant. Thank you so much Stephanie. This is a perfect pillow case for this cold February and will make me smile as my head hits the pillow and feels the softness!

Those bedroom blocks are adorable. Do you machine applique the pieces on your blocks or do it by hand? This is going to be a really nice quilt. The pillowcase is fun!!!

This is going to be so much fun when it's finally assembled.

I can just inagine making this quilt and giving it to a little girl and telling her the story of "Little Red Riding Hood". A million times better than than reading it from the book. The story could be enhanced using the embellishments as prompts for different story lines. What fun!

You always come up with the best ideas for fussy cutting when working with blocks. I think you should write a "Fussy Cutting" book!
