Going To Market Class with Ricci

I'm back. I had a great time at my classes and being with all the quilting gals I met last year. It was really so much fun. I was so incredibly busy with classes and everything. Time flew. There were so many things I should have photographed. I found an old friend at the retreat, Ann. I wish I had our pictures taken together! Darn. It was so fun talking about old times from when we were raising our young families.
More than a week ago I blogged about getting ready for my "Going to Market" class here. I blogged about my fabrics and color palette for this quilt. And then I had 2nd thoughts and changed everything I had picked out. No red and white Going to Market for me.

The class was so much fun. Ricci (left above) is a fantastic teacher. I can't comprehend making this quilt without taking the class and having her help. She's so accomplished and so funny.I didn't get much done even though the class was an all day class. Learning a new process takes time and being together is to be enjoyed and not rushed.
Nedra popped in on our class to say hi and take some photos. Nedra is so much better at stopping to take pictures. You'll have to check out her blog to see what she says about the retreat.
I did finish the long baskets while I was there sewing. There are 7 of them total. I had already sewn fabric in strips left over from another project. That was another reason I decided against red and white for this quilt. I wanted to use this fabric for the large baskets. I like how they turned out.
The sharper curved handles were harder for me and took quite a bit longer than the other handles but I'm nearly done with them. There are 9 of these baskets.

I have so much more work to put in on this quilt but it is exciting. I decided on the background fabric after seeing Lori use it in one of her projects at Amy's retreat 2 weeks ago.

I came home with quite a bit of work ahead of me on all my projects but it will be joyful to finish them and remember how much fun I had. I have SO much to catch up on. This is a busy week at work and home for me plus trying to fit sewing time in between.

Busy Busy. How are you?

So cute!! Can you tell me about the handles? Are they turned edge? Any more info about them would be great! I'm not doing baskets, but has another idea in mind-your technique might be helpful!!

I'm sure you will find another use for the red and whites. The handles look a little challenging.
