April Baskets

More baskets on the way . . .
Baskets are the theme for the block of the April in our Alpine Quilt Group 2010 project. If you're sewing along with us you can find the photo for the quilt here and the pattern here from Jina Barney's website. I think the basket block is really cute.
I've been keeping this background fabric saved on my shelf for a while now. Why do I do that? Now is the time to use fabric I love! I have the handles all glue basted to the background.I have the bottom parts of the basket all sewn together.
So I'm ready to stitch the handles in any free moment. I think this will go together pretty fast. I'm very proud of myself for keeping pace with our Alpine Quilt project, even if I feel like I'm in the eye of a storm some days.

Those look great! I don't know how you ever manage to keep pace with everyone. I find them all very intimidating....but in a good way. ha!

I have printed the patterns for the Alpine Quilt project and I would love to do it as everything you gals do is so fun that I'd like to have the fun, too. I just havent' started the blocks yet. Maybe I can start it next week. Actually those baskets are perfect for May Day so that may get me started soon!

That is the cutest background fabric. You save it for the perfect project!

Your baskets are going to be super cute! Can't get enough baskets!! ;-) And I know exactly why you saved that background fabric -- it was waiting for its perfect project. Voila, here it is. I just now finished stitching down the binding on my basket quilt. I lost a couple of points on the sides. I hope I'm done stabbing myself in the top of the thumb for the day. :-)

Cute baskets--they do look like May Day baskets. I am working on some too for my Civil War group.

How pretty your block beginnings looks and they will really be pretty when they're totally put together. And we save favorite fabrics for that perfect project that has not come along yet. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Why do we save our favorite fabrics on the shelf instead of in projects we can enjoy? I think we all do this. Good for you! Baskets are the perfect choice too!

Hmmm, I tried the three links that you provided in regards to the basket quilt, but couldn't access the 3rd link; the link to the actual website. Apparently you have to have a "user name" and a "password".(I tried several times..) Do you know if there is a place to sign-up to access the site? And, BTW~~~what a cute, cute, cute basket and quilt~~ just like everything you make!!
Happy Friday!
