Father's Day Weekend

Its been a warm weekend in Utah. I think the cool days are gone for now. I was able to do a bit of sewing over the weekend.

I finished my first stash challenge flimsy. I'm going to take it to the quilter's tomorrow and drop it off. It went together pretty fast. I cut scraps into 4 1/2" and 2 1/2" squares as I go sometimes and so I had much of the quilt already cut out. I decided to use up some of those scraps in an easy pattern. It will be nice on someone's bed or a picnic quilt.
'Yummy looking cake isn't it. The cream is whipped cream and cream cheese mixed together and then the fresh strawberries and pound cake. My friend Laura made it for her son's 17th birthday and Father's Day and I had to grab a pic for the blog. Of course I had a piece of cake, too. Better than yum.

Laura is a chef and has owned a restaurant. She had her family over for dinner today so I snapped a pic of her 'goods' to go with the grilled lemon chicken she made. I didn't stay for dinner but I'm sure it was great.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads today, especially my husband Dave and his dad Leo. This is a picture of my dad Paul. Tomorrow would be his 92nd birthday. He passed away 3 years ago on his birthday. Bitter sweet but I know where he and I know he and my mom are both together and proud of their family.

You're my last blog before bed and it was a good way to end a very busy Father's Day. I loved the photos, but mostly the one of your dad. Reminded me so much of mine in his WWII uniform. Mine passed away 8 yrs ago, and I still miss him dearly. But like you, I know where he is. Thanks for sharing.
Luv, Nerm

Nanette, with those borders the quilt doesn't look too busy at all. If it still bothers you though, my bed room is really really dull and I suppose I would let you jazz it up ;). It really is lovely.
That cake! My oh My oh MY! That CAKE!!! At first I thought I was dreaming when I saw it. As soon as I find someone to share it with us (so I don't eat it all myself) I am going to make one. Maybe for the 4th up at the lake! Yummmmm.
Hope you had a nice fathers day. Good luck at your trunk show this week! Say hello to Joanna for me. Love Stacy

I love how your quilt turned out! Not that I didn't love how it was before, but it is just so dang cute. I feel like I'm totally stuffed, I've eaten so much food today, but those pictures you put up of that yummy-looking food sure did make me a little hungrier! :)

Your quilt definitely says picnic to me. Delicious strawberry pic. I'm thankful my dad, who will be 89 next month, is still alive and in good health.

nice quilt top, I like the combination of prints. I get wary about combining many prints sometimes, but this is a successful combo. I like the text fabric especially.
