To our readers and commenters

Yesterday Cathi gave me a blog award. For those of you that don't know what that is, its a way to tell another blogger that you read and appreciate their posts. Cathi has a great blog and she inspires me. Thank you Cathi. There are so many blogs that "fill" us and that is the reason we started our blog to share our fun hobbies and rub elbows with other creative bloggers. We enjoy all the great blogs we read and find a kinship with other women that do similar things all over the world. So I want to give a blog award to all those blogs that we read and those that comment here on our blog. I know thats kind of a copout but really it's the truth. It takes time to photograph and show your work and I feel so lucky to be able to sit in the comfort of my sewing room and "know" such great creative women and get to see the things they are working on. Its a fabulous way to share. I don't even need to go outside the walls of my home to know what is on the cutting edge of the quilting world. You bring it to me.

To readers with blogs and without blogs - you make my day. It is very fulfilling to hear your comments and read the thoughtful things you have to say. Thank you. I do like commenting back to you but often times there is no email address or when I click your name to comment back I get the "no reply" message meaning you haven't enabled that on your profile or you haven't left your email address. Please readers and bloggers, check your preferences and leave your email address. Sometimes I will get questions from you and I won't be able to answer them, and I'd like to. There are regular posters at my blog I can never comment back to because I get "no reply". I know this is a frustration for lots of other bloggers that want to communicate with their readers and commenters and its a topic in discussion lately. Again, thanks for the lovely comments we recieve. It really does make our day.

Wow this is colorful isn't it! Its kind of over the top! I am working on this quilt for the Summer Stash Challenge and I'm excited to dip into my scrap basket. I guess I was a little too eager because now when I look at this I realize there isn't enough light value fabric in the blocks. Its kind of "mushy" looking with everything blending, you can't even tell where some of the blocks end and begin. Oh well. I'm finishing it anyway. This just goes to prove not every quilt is a masterpiece and I'm really ok with that. I like lots going on in a quilt but this is a bit much. I'll try to mute it some with calmer borders. I'm going to even back the quilt with fabric on hand and piece it together if I can't find enough of one kind to fit the back.

Join the fun and make even a small project this summer with your scraps and fabric on hand. I have more projects I want to make with my stash this summer so I'll concentrate on that and put new fabric on the back burner. Hard to do!

Have a nice weekend, and you all make my day! - nanette

i love your stash project...and i don't think it mushes all together...while i love fancy designs and fancy colors, things like this remind me of "good old fashioned patchwork..." that's a compliment because i think good old fashioned patchwork is where it all began anyway...=)

I agree with you..our fellow bloggers are certainly wonderful and a great source of inspiration. I feel your frustration too, as I also like to answer questions or just respond to a comment and can not. I do love your stash project. It is wonderful, I love things full of color!

Love your project. I think the term "blended" could be used instead of "mush". The colors are great.

Oooh -- I like that project. It is so colourful and bright and cheerful! I agree with purple and paisley -- it reminds me of old fashioned patchwork.

I really like your scrappy quilt! The pattern is good.. it uses two sizes of blocks.. very clever to use up the smaller pieces. And it is a very happy quilt.

And yes, I agree with you about the noreplies. Maybe some bloggers don't want to be contacted through emails, but I bet a lot of them don't even realize their email is not listed. Thanks for pointing this out!

What a nice post Nanette! I too love sharing this unique friendship with like minded crafters. And I love your scrap quilt! When I saw it, it immediately reminded me of my great-grandma Martha. It transported me back to her little cozy home filled with 'make do' quilts. x

Nanette! I love that stash quilt. I've heard people say there are rules about having light, medium, and dark values in any given quilt, but I guess I've never learned them. I love scrap quilts and you make the best ones that always inspire me!

I love your stash quilt! I don't think it mushes together at all. In fact, as Stephanie commented, it blends together very well.

Bloggers are the best!!!
I really like the brightness of your quilt top. Just think...as the fabric fades...and it will over the years...this one will be a shining star in your collection because of the brightness, even if you don't think values are different enough.

Your stash quilt looks happy and fun! Nothing wrong with a little mush now and then-- especially when it's as lovely as that! But the others above are more on the mark when they say "blend", I think. :)

I really love seeing your projects and reading about your experiences... it always seems to help get my own creative juices flowing. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us!

I love this post and you nailed it about the kinship and being "filled" by fellow bloggers... who quickly become friends, my friend.

I'm one of those naughty "no reply" peeps. But I do that for a reason. When I leave a comment, it's just that... a comment. I don't want the recipient to feel obliged to respond - but to just enjoy the comment. Especially when I'm at someone's blog who's got a gazillion comments... I can't imagine her having the time to reply with a gazilion emails. Yada, yada, yada... I ramble. In a nutshell... in my eyes, my "no reply" is a gift of time for the that blogger. Hope that made sense.

Plus back when I started blogging the norm was - get a comment... visit that person's blog and comment. I've always liked that. Like visiting my house, and now I go visit their house.
