Fantastic Fabric Friday again

I love to sew. As do many of you. And I've found my niche in making quilts. So it is only natural that I am drawn to sewing fabric. Two loves in one. Fabric and sewing. Novelty fabric gives me so much to look at and enjoy. It inspires me to think of fun ways to use the fabric.
And it is fun to have the sewing fabric in different weights and colors. I am drawn to the beautiful shape of a sewing machine.Of course I like buttons and notions and scissors and thread. This fabric has it all. This set of 3 colors is probably my favorite. I really like dress forms too. Even though I don't sew clothes very often any more. This one has words, bolts of fabric, thimbles (see that Thimbleanna), pins, pincushions, and irons. I really like the little irons here on this fabric. And the measuring tape adds whimsy. Have you seen the new Jennifer Paganelli hexagon cheater cloth? I've been hearing a lot about the return of "whole cloth" quilts. This would make a fabulous whole cloth quilt. The fabric and colors are vibrant and lovely. The shape of a hexagon is really "in" right now and this fabric couldn't be more perfect to showcase that trend. Our local quilt group is making a sampler quilt this year to celebrate the 20th birthday of the group. Every month we make 2-4 new blocks for the sampler. One of the blocks this month comes from my friend Kim. Kim has a fabulous blog. I mean fabulous. She is extremely talented soI was excited to make her block.
It was a joy to make. Don't you love blocks that have taken into consideration that you might not be a perfect sew-er and they allow some fudge room to trim off? I was so happy to piece these small blocks and then be able to trim them to almost perfection. I admit I must have admired and played with them for a bit before sewing them together in the finished block.I am very happy how my block turned out and loved using this darling fabric in 3 color ways with the little unexpected blue rose middle stripe and then a fussy cut beehive. I just may have to make more than one of these Kim blocks. I could make this block over and over. If you are interested to see what blocks we are making this year in our sampler. You can go to my google web page here for the patterns. I'm really enjoying the challenge of the sampler blocks. My contribution will be a block in September. And I've come up with a few ideas . . .we'll see how it goes.

It has rained almost every day this week here in Alpine Utah. I love it. The late spring rain reminds me of Pennsylvania. It has been cool and lovely. I could really do with more days like today sprinkled throughout the summer.

Happy Weekend Sewing.

Eeek! Not only do you have thimbles on fabric (those three are my favorites too -- sooo cute!) but you've put a beehive in the middle of Kim's block! I LOVE it! Very, very clever, Ms. Hive!!!

I love your block! I just got my quilt with the black border back from the quilters. It is so cute. I'll bring it to the Alpine group. Thanks for telling me to use the black. It really made the dresden plates POP. Love you. Tricia

I love sewing fabric and I have bought some but I have never known what to do with it. Maybe an apron? Or a little basket? I just don't know if I want to use it in a quilt.

Love that block! It is so cute with the way you used the fabrics. Love the little beehive!

The Beehive in the middle is perfect! It's so "You". Kim really does a wonderful job, I agree.

I really enjoy when you share your fabric with us on Fridays'. But each week I grow more curious - how big is your stash? I think your daughters called it 'terrifying' in a previous post. How long have you been building your stash? So many interesting, cute, unique fabrics . So aside from my nosiness - thanks for sharing with us.

Once again I'm drooling (too much info?) over the Friday fabrics! They are just too cute. I love the block you created - your fabric choices are wonderful. I'm going to try my hand at that block - I love patterns where they have the 'fudge' room for trimming. I'm definitely NOT a perfect piecer, but I do try.
The beehive in the center is the perfect touch!

That block is adorable.. the three colorways of roses.. I love that! And the hexagon cheater fabric looks so vintage. I could swear I have an actual vintage piece just like that blue and green one there with the little rows of diamonds.

Glad you are having some nice cool rainy weather. It's like that here too right now. :-)

V. here... I really love your fabrics. I just need a little push with ideas to know how to use them. Be sure and show how you use the 3 color ways with dress forms and tape measure, etc. I would love to have your creativity. I like your hive in the middle of Kim's block. Cute contribution to the anniversary quilt. V.
