Freda's Hive: Engagement Quilt

In the Merrill family, the best way to get one of my mother's adorable quilts is to have a birthday, get married, or graduate from high school or college. My personal favorite involved getting married. i got 4 quilts!! One of my favorite, although it is pretty tough to choose, is my engagement quilt.

My colors were turquoise, black and white. I adore anything pink and with fun prints, and my mom was able to make the most adorable, and perfect personality matching quilt.
(that is my cat max, who loves the quilts too)
See, so cute! and just because i can, I'm going to add in a few gratuitous cat pictures with my kittens, Max and Maggie.

They love to nap, and besides their cat bed, the minky side of my quilts is their favorite place to pass the next 22 hours.

I have had a few emails asking me about the "cake" in the middle of this quilt. It is made from chenille and then ribbon separates the layers. It is not appliqued. It is strips of the chenille with the blue/turquoise on each side of the white chenille. It was really easy. Then the top couple is a block from a novelty fabric. The border is novelty wedding cakes. Thanks for asking!
