The last Tuesday of every month is our quilt group's night get-together. Tricia, a local girl that is also in our Christmas Cottage exchange sat next to me. It was so fun to meet her! She's adorable. And her blocks are amazing too. I hope to get to know her better.
I loaded small pics because there are sure a lot of them!
Lila Tueller was our guest speaker. Lila lives in our valley and was gracious enough to visit with us and tell us about her journey to Moda and being a fabric designer. It was fun to learn about how she worked for years to meet her goals and what she wants to do in the future.
This is her new line of fabric due out in February. Pink, tiffany blue and green prints with movement and energy. It is a lovely line. Thanks for taking the time to visit us in Alpine Lila. We wish you continued success. It is fun to see a local girl make it big!
Paula has been our fearless leader this year and this is a flimsy she finished for one of her daughters. Paula has skills. Obviously.
Merry Go Round by American Jane. I love this design.
Fabulous sampler quilt. She did a really nice job.
Gina's Halloween quilt. I'm pretty sure she and Sherry made these together.
Melissa and her husband have been working for months to make quilts for a charity event to be held in early December. Here is Paula next to her looking at the sweet quilt. If anyone wants to donate time to quilt the flimsies or donate finished quilts see Melissa. She is a sweetheart.

Here is Laurel's "Omigosh" quilt. the smallest pieces are 1/2"! I love the colors Laurel used. It is such a beautiful quilt. Wren, one of our favorite local quilters, did an amazing job quilting it. This is a miracle quilt in my opinion!
Here is a large sized version of the "Omigosh". It is really cute! I loved the big size and the zebra border was fabulous.
Raeann showed several quilts but my camera wasn't cooperating for those. Raeann is a great quilter and such a nice person. She is putting a pattern up on Kim's blog. You'll have to check it out.

Here is Flora. She takes over as the group's Sheriff in January. She and Paula trade off. They are both amazing quilters. Flora is such a good friend. She had a funny story about this quilt. Have you ever brought fabric home from the store and put it away for a few weeks and then forgot what you were going to make with it? Well I have. And so has Flora! Lovely quilt. Beautiful fabrics and design.
This is a block Flora was appliqueing while we had show-n-tell and listened to Lila. Isn't the flower beautiful. I love the gray. Using different greens is so cute. That is exactly how I'd make it. And Sandi Henderson's fabric for the flower is so so cute! I love to fussy cut fabric like that. It almost looks like a lollipop flower. I've gotta make this. I couldn't stop looking at it while she was working on them. She has 20 finished.
This is such a cute quilt and the quilters first applique project. Can you believe that! It turned out great.
Debbie's darling witch quilt. The green was so good with the orange.
Debbie again with a partially hand quilted and partially machine quilted project. I've done that before! Turned out nice either way.
Kim handed around treats in her trick-or-treat bag. Isn't it such a good idea!
I will say these ladies have guts! The last page was a "Kentucky stud" pic with a male in a stud barn scene and a quilt! It looked like he must have been one of the gal's husbands.

Here is the famous Judi. She is also Nedra's friend and shows up there, too. And apparently she can sew and cook! So there ya go. In fact Nedra has one of Judi's recipes on her blog. This is a quilt that she did with Nedra on their recent quilt outing. It is a "fun and done" quilt that Nedra will be teaching at our upcoming retreat in Bryce Canyon.
Here is Judi again with a great pineapple one color quilt. It was HUGE. And pretty.
Janice made this really beautiful Kaffe quilt. I know the pic is small. I hope it clicks so you can see the beautiful fabrics and detail. Most of the time my pics don't click big though. What am I doing wrong?
This was an annual project to hand quilt in the fall and now it is done! It is beautiful.

Ok, brace yourself for the next pictures. One of our girls went to Kentucky and brought home a calendar that the local quilt group put together as a fund raiser. We laughed so incredibly hard. Get a load of this!
I only took a few pictures of the calendar girls but they were all pretty much like this! The grass is certainly blue there but I didn't really notice the grass much.
Lets just say our group will not be raising money like this!

What a great show and tell--loved all the quilts! So was it always Lila's goal to design fabrics, or did she initially just want to design patterns...just curious! And finally...yeah Phillies...they are my younger son's favorite team!
what a nice quilt group you belong to! thank you for sharing the pics! and i am so thrilled you dad is smiling in heaven...=)
So lucky to have Lila come, I'm jealous. I was sad that I couldn't click and make any of the pics larger. I would love to look at the details.
Those are great pictures. It looks like you had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing.

You have the most wonderful group. Loved all the pictures! It almost made me feel like I was there with you. And the calendar...hillarious! But we won't be doing one like that either!
Oh how I wish I had been there! Your group always has such gorgeous show and tell items!
I figured out when I started my blog that if I dragged my photos where I wanted them then they wouldn't click big. You have to do it in html format and cut and paste the photo html where you want it, then they magically click big! Unless there is some other trick I know nothing about??! Anyone????!!!
What a fantastic group you belong to....so many talented quilters!
I love the merrigoround and omigosh quilts. I fear I will never be patient enough to make a quilt, maybe I'll start with a babydoll quilt!
What a talented group of ladies. I loved so many of the quilts. The large Halloween cat quilt is so unique and gorgeous. Is it a pattern or just the quilter's own?
Fun night, I thought. Your finished house quilt was there but noticeably missing in the pics of show and tell, and it was wonderful! Thanks for doing such a kind job of documenting for our good group. And again thanks for the kind words. The feeling is more than I can say mutual. You are so dear.
My favorites were the "Oh My Gosh" quilt.. (I simply cannot get OVER that one!).. and Debbie's on point nine-patch. I just love the colors she used in that, and always wanted to make one that looks like that.
There was only one picture that clicked big. I'm wondering too why they are not opening. But I was still able to see them all at full size.. because I have a trick. I just right-click the picture and open "properties".. then copy and paste that url into another window. Where it says "s200" (that's the picture size).. I change the number to 1600. Then it opens up in another window the full size. More work.. but at least I get to see the details of all these fabulous quilts!
Great Quilts as always! I'm glad the Phillies won. The town I live in has the AA Rays team, but I wanted the Phillies to win for my grandmother. She has watched them as long as I can remeber, and she was so excited last night.
mmmm, pure quilt porn there! delicious!!!!!
I love Laurel's quilt! I miss going to Broadbent's and having she and Janice for help and opinions. They are both such talented quilters. I love when you post pictures from your quilt group.
How fortunate you are, Nanette, to work with such a talented group of quilters! And to have Lila Tueller at your meeting is icing on the cake! I love her designs - have made two of them so far!
I discovered that if you first load your pictures on the HTML side - begin with the one you want to go last, then second to last, etc, ending with the picture you want to go on first. Then hop over to the compose side and enter your text, all your pictures will be "clickable". It takes a little organization, but works well for me. Another trick is to make a space between picture on the HTML side before you go over to the compose side. Good luck! Cheers!
Thanks for the show and tell,I love to look at others quilts. Come play Block Lotto with me at http://patchesquiltworks.blogspot.com
Beautiful quilts! The applique flower is so pretty. Thanks so much for sharing :)
"Pretty" amazing quilts. Wow Wee. I could only get the one by Paula with the buildings to click on big. Darn. I have to admit, I just wouldn't have the guts to be on that calendar from Kentucky! But then they didn't ask me either. :)
Wonderful quilts and I LOVE the appliqued flower block on the grey background!!! Now for the calendar...my very small hometown did the same thing (no quilts involved)...same principal. I did not want to see the calendar because I've known all the ladies most of my life. My folks really wanted me to see it. Frightening (tasteful) but frightening!
Great show and tell. Loved seeing them all. You have some very talented friends.
Thanks for the shout out Nanette!! We appreciate it!!
What beautiful quilts! Lila is great and designs beautiful fabric. What is the name of the calendar? Where can you get one? This is tooo funny! Thanks for sharing!
wow, that was like going to a quilt show. Wonderful!
What a wonderful quilt show, thank you for sharing. I love the quilt calender!!! :)
Thanks for all of the quilt pics! I loved looking all of the fabulous quilt making going on. I sure wish I could have clicked on them to make them bigger. Do you know where to find the pattern for the Oh my gosh quilt? Seems like I tried, but couldn't find it.
I loved seeing Laurel and Janice's quilts. They are such great gals. And Laurel always teases me that I do small pieces . . .
What a lovely time you had. I really love the design and colours in the last quilt from the show that you showed. Does the design have a name/make etc? It didn't click big. I've been looking for a leaf based quilt as I love Autumn and the colours we've been having.
Thanks for sharing. Here in the UK the Women's Institute in one area did a similar calender to raise funds for a charity I think it was. Rather them than me- I'd sooner donate! LOL
that pineapple quilt is gorgeous. i have book & ruler but no fabric yet. i was going to pick creams with a soft color. now i know it's going to be fabulous. what a talented group.
I have learned that if you upload a photo and then move it around you break the html link. Here is what I do;
Upload photos
Type text
Highlight text and move it to the proper photo; sometimes I just type the text over or under the photo I am talking about.
I loved the quilts you talked about; what a fun evening you all had!
What a fabulous show and tell. Thanks for sharing.
Great quilts!!!! But the calendar.........OMG that was hysterical!!!! I'm thinking I need to make a calendar. 2009 is coming you know. LOLOL
nanette,
thanks for sharing those gorgeous quilts! i saw that witch quilt on another blog from a retreat... are the legs stuffed? i'd love to find that pattern. if you know what it is could you let me know? i am SOOOO not going to be a quilt calendar girl when i grow up! that is funny!
i'm sure your dad is smiling in heaven all of the time!
The quilts are beautiful. You have some talented ladies in your group.
The calendar was funny, but it wasn't my Kentucky group! That's too funny!
Congratulations to the Phillies! I was hoping they'd win!!
Look at all the eye candy you shared with us - every quilt is beautiful, and your group is very talented!! Love the calendar photos - those ladies are definitely very brave!!
Nanette: I loved being reminded of how much fun we had Tuesday night! I feel so blessed to be able to hang out with so many gifted quilters. I invited two new ladies to our meeting and told them I was just a 'wanna be' quilter compared to who I'm hangin with. Thanks for reminding me of all the fun!
i LOVE seeing the show and tell quilts from quilt night! thanks for sharing, again, all the beautiful quilts.
wow!wow!wow! Your quilting group is so talented! I love it when you share photos of their quilts
Beautiful quilts from your group as usual!! I love that I can see all those wonderful quilts through your camera lens...thank you!!
