Weekend Work

It was kind of a busy weekend and sewing was not the main event for me. Unfortunately.
I made some quick gifts to go with homemade bread I made today. Those flour sack towels come in very handy when you buy them in bulk.
I used some of my Flower Sugar fabric for a table topper out of the pattern I'm developing. Has anyone been able to buy this fabric anywhere yet? It is so beautiful. I've enjoyed using it so much and when I cut into it I get fabric anxiety worrying about running out.
I've got the rest of the work-in-progress cut out in the green color way. I can't decide which print/color I like the best. They are all so yummy.Material Girls was having a sale on fat quarters this weekend. I had to take a couple quilts up to be quilted so I picked out a few little pastel beauties. Nadine is always so welcoming and nice when ever I visit. It is such a great shop.

Can you believe it is the last week in July? Alpine Quilt Night is tomorrow night. Can't wait.

Great idea to add a lovely embelished towel to your gift of bread. People really appreciate thoughtful little extras like that.

I can see why you hated to cut into that fabric!

I need zanax whenever I cut into fabric that I adore and I seem to adore them all!!!

I might be joking on the zanax part, but it would come in handy. I just hide the fabric I love when I visit my LQS. My mother taught me that sweet little trick!

Love the tea towels...what creative and thoughtful way to present a treat.

I see why you have such anxiety about that fabric. It is beautiful.
Have a wonderful week and I hope you get in a lot of sewing!

I am planning to make a potholder and matching flour sack towel for my relatives for Christmas. Do you cut the flour sack or just sew the fabric on the front of it? I'm looking for the easiest way possible! :)

Who makes Flower Sugar? When you mentioned it before, was the first and only time I've heard of it?...I realy like it. Looks like are real sweet project. My quilt group is this week also, and I can't wait. How are the kids? I hope my son gets to go on trek soon. When is your daughter's wedding date and when is your grand child due?

My Gram used to cover her yeast dough with flour sack towels when it was rising.

I always get the 'warm and fuzzies' whenever I visit your blog, Nanette. Somehow you have this uncanny ability to bring back fond memories from my childhood.

The colors of your fabrics today just take my old fashioned breath away. Thanks for sharing!

It is hard to believe it's the end of July. This year is going by too fast. Love all your pretty fabrics, as usual. Where do you find your dish towels? I would love to make some for gifts. Is that embellished edge just on one side? Have you done a tutorial on it? I'll go look. Thanks. Mimi

I have missed sew much in my absence!! I know better than to be away from your blog for any length of time. So much beautiful fabric and wonderful projects and inspiration!
I'm glad you and the family had such a great vacation, and the towels you girls made are all adorable! Gives me an idea for Christmas presents.
I'm sorry you didn't get to meet Anna - she's one of my favorite people, and someone I would love to sit and chat and sew with! That's a lovely bad she made you, too!
I spent a lovely time with your blog this morning, and I now have a big smile on my face, and I'm ready to go sew!!
