The sisters/moms decidid we would bring a few door prizes. I purchased some white bath sheets at a local discount store. And I wanted to do something really simple to make them a little special and use towels for a door prize for the retreat.
I cut strips of fabric 2" in a neutral fabric that might be ok in most any bathroom.
I used my 1" bias strip maker (I cut the strips on the straight of grain this time) to turn the edges under and get the strips ready to sew on the towels. It was really easy and took under a half hour. I think it is a great idea. Who doesn't want new fresh towels? Anyone can use them. You know me by now. I always complicate things by throwing too much in the mix. I purchased 4 boxes of fresh pears. They will all ripen this week, I'm pretty sure. Whitney wanted to bottle some for Allison and I like to dry them (our dried peaches are all gone already, for some reason my family will go eat the dried fruit and pass up the fresh fruit? crazy). So after work I'll have to do a little bit at a time. Jamie's 20th birthday is Wednesday so I also have a birthday mid week before the retreat. And my SIL Justin came home from his Army training. Lots going on but good stuff. I'm really looking forward to the retreat at the end of the week.

Decorating the towels is a wonderful idea. Have fun!!
Oh, those pears look yummy! Nice fabric choice on the towels. They'll make a great doorprize gift. I'll be off to retreat, too, this weekend and can hardly wait! Have fun with the sisters. :-)
Have a wonderful retreat and tell those cute neices of yours I say hello.
Sounds like a lot fun going on in your place. And those towels are SO pretty. That was a smart idea using the bias tape maker to turn the edges under. Mine tend to be a little "wavy". :(
Love the towels! A family quilting retreat, lucky you! That sounds wonderful, looking forward to you showing what is worked on there.
Have fun with your family!! Your towels will be a hit for sure!!
That's lots of pears. Random side-note. My mom has/had that same lemonade jar that you have in the background of your picture. My husband was helping to move it high on a counter and didn't realize the lid didn't "stick" so it came crashing to the tile floor in a million pieces. :( No bueno. So if you ever break the jar and are left with a lid... ;)
My family is the same way with dried fruit, go figure. Your towles are a great gift idea! I'm sure they will be loved. Have way too much fun with your sisters!

Good towel idea! My MIL gave me all her sewing stuff when she was downsizing to a smaller room at her senior place--she had a whole set of those bias makers. Now I know what I could do with them :)
