Lazy Easter PostThursday, April 05, 2012
Easter isn't what it used to be, at least not that I can tell. When I was a kid, Easter was a big deal. And I mean bigger than Halloween. New dress, new shoes, Easter bunny, Easter basket, a toy, dying eggs, and candy. Lots of candy. Sure I knew the religious implications, but I was a kid.
I remember we got Easter cards in the mail. I'm not sure if my mom sent them out, too, but my auntie always sent us a card. Ah, nostalgia.
I've posted this Easter snapshot before (therefore lazy post title). But it really says something about Easter to me. This photo was taken on the church grounds before Sunday School. I'm always making the sassy faces in pictures. So that is me with my hands up being Miss Smartypants. I remember those shoes. They pinched. This has to be 1963, I think. Oh, how I loved that dress! My fabulous dad is behind me. I wish I had appreciated him more. He kind of looks like a mobster there, but he was a cop. There are 3 of my sisters, Polly, Shelly and Teri, and my sister's friend (hat) in the photo. My mom made all the clothes. Of course. She would have made our shoes if she could have. I'm sure Mom, Freda, is the one behind the camera.
Happy Easter everyone. Ham and fixins for all.
