So here is my progress on the house sketch embroidery quilt. I'm not sure if this was the right application for this sketch process but I will reserve my final judgement until it is bordered and quilted.

I am totally spoiled by my blog friends. Sweet Sandi sent me a package of goodies. Sandi and I "met" under interesting circumstances but we hit it off right away. She is someone I really admire in so many ways. I have made lots of quilts over the years but let me tell you Sandi is both a very prolific and creative quilter. The fabric above is from Sandi. Those bees are full of personality. And the rick rack and neutral fabric will be fun to use in a future project.

Sandi knows my love for vintage kitchen fabric and she included these little goodies in her package. The pot holder is something she picked up at an antique store. Isn't it cute. I love the crochet and cross stitch. It would be fun to recreate that. And the vintage kitchen fabric is perfect for me. It will be fun to use but for right now I'm going to admire it! Not only does it have kitchen items but it has kitchen words like "instant breakfast". I love fabric with writing.

Lurline asked me to show some examples of vintage 50s fabric. Lurline leaves me the sweetest comments and has a great "down under" blog. I'm pretty sure Sandi's fabric above is from the late 50's. Sandi thought so too.

I know it isn't Friday but while we're at it I thought I'd show some of my other 50's gems. At least I think that is when they were made. This bird fabric is a favorite. I don't have a big piece of it so I'm sort of afraid to use it.

Same with this cute little girl fabric. The dresses remind me of a pinafore dress my mother made me when I was in first grade. I really need to find a picture of that dress. It was my very favorite. Those were the good old days.

Nanette, I am so glad you liked what I sent. You are right - we hit it off! And there you are with another darling little girls in dresses fabric. I think I am going to have to check out e-bay, something I just don't do. Last Saturday my brother called to tell me there was a Civil War quilt from the town in Iowa near where we grew up and it was starting at 995. I thought he meant $995 but he meant $9.95 as a starting bid with a "buy now for $200". By the time he got back to the site, it was sold, of course. Thanks for you kind words. So glad we "met" across the miles!!!

I found a piece of that fabric with the little girls and puppies this summer and sent it to one of my blog friends - it was fun to see it! That bird fabric is wonderful. No need to save those beautiful pieces for Fridays! Barbara

But wow.. my very favorite is the bird piece. I wish we could find more of that! Somebody needs to recreate it.

I really like the looks of your house embroidery quilt. Of course, I like everything you do!
How nice of Sandi to send you such a lovely gift! Blogland friends are wonderful, aren't they? Your vintage fabric is wonderful! The kitchen fabric is so 50's - yes, I am that old!! My mother used to wear an apron that looked just like that fabric.
