Jodi to the Rescue!

I'm such a fan of the 'post ahead' option on blogger and I'm using it today. I'm probably playing "nanny" while you read this. I've really never wanted to be called grandma so I'm hoping the family will get used to calling me Nanny. It just seems to fit me.
Well after my struggles last week with the whirligig, Jodi of Pleasant Home came to my rescue!! Thanks so much Jodi. I totally get by with a little help from my friends. And this made all the difference in the world.
Jodi has these whirligig templates that she sells in her Etsy store (so inexpensive!). And she sent them to me. I don't really know how I'd ever do this again without them. And this is now my new favorite block. When things go the right way, quilting is just so much fun.
I'm using Jodi's templates to make the whirligigs in the quilt I'm finishing up for my sister Michelle. Michelle has some embroidered blocks she made that need some companion quilt blocks to put together for complete project.
It is nice to cut these out and have a few moments here and there to sew them together. I'm afraid I made more blocks than I need but now I'm ahead on my next project. Thanks again Jodi. They worked out perfectly.

Nanny is most common in Newfoundland... I never hear of having a grandma or grammy

Although, to go with Nanny there is Poppy... which I had one set of, my maternal grandparents.

On my father's side it's traditional to call the male Grampy... So I had Nanny and Grampy

that's history I'm sure you didn't want to know lol! Congrats! and have fun

Just finished catching up on all the posts I have missed through Oct. 22.
Boy Oct. sure is a busy month for you between the wedding, birthday and a new grandbaby. Whew. And now the holidays will be here. Congratulations on the new grandbaby. How exciting. You are a nanny. And it is so sweet that they used your moms name for her middle name.

Nanny Nanette. It couldn't be anything but that.

That is going to be one cute quilt with the whirly gigs and embroidered blocks. They compliment one another perfectly.

I like Nanny - since you are Nanette, that's a natural. I had a Nana who's real name was Anna and everyone called her Nan. With these templates does the fabric still need to be right side up when cutting it?

I like Nanny too! I'm off to check out these templates of Jodi's, how lovely that she sent them to you xo

Love your whirly gigs!! I still haven't figured out how to post ahead of time, do you think it's because I use "old" blogger?

I love your whirligig blocks. That Jodi is so sweet and fun! I ordered the whirlygig templates from her a few weeks ago. I haven't had time to make any, but I hope to soon.

Nanny is so perfect for you. I didn't know what I wanted to be called when I became a grandmother. My first grand child named me herself. She and her brothers call me Mom-Mom.

Congratulations on becoming a grandmother. It's a wonderful feeling, and such a great experience to see your child become a mother. She will do well; she had a great role model: you!
