Lady GaGa Eyes Revisited

I pulled out my Material Obsession Two book and opened my box of UFO projects to make progress on my Gypsy Kisses quilt. Lori dubbed the blocks - my GaGa quilt, and you can see why.
I started working again on this during my vacation. and have almost all my black dot middle piece appliqued onto the lashes part of the GaGa eyes of the Gypsy Kisses blocks. At least all the blocks I have made so far.
This type of quilt is not easy for me and the applique dot piece had to be hand stitched into a "hole". When the side lashes are joined to the square blocks it leaves a hole in the center of the block and then appliqueing the piece into the seam allowance of the lashes is a little bit of a trick. But, I got the hang of it. Finally.
I love the combinations of fabric in my blocks.
Some kind of black and white dot fabric is in the center of all the pieces.
And some type of gray fabric makes up the end squares. I kept it really scrappy.
The bottom block above has 2 different pink strips of fabric for the lashes but I don't mind that since that would be typical for a real vintage quilt. When those quilt makers would run out of matching fabric they would just make a substitution. I like adding that quirk to my quilts sometime.
These fabrics all make me happy.
I don't know how big to make this quilt but I am pretty sure mine will be much smaller than the quilt in the book. The next step would be joining blocks together. That scares me! I hope there isn't another big time gap before you see these blocks on my blog again.

A great reminder to pull my blocks out and get back to working on them too! I remember we started together, but I think you are further along than me.

Wow, Nanette, you've got a LOT done! I love them all. Your fabric combinations and choices are just happy, but then, that IS a sign that you are the one who made them. We like happy, don't we!

Oh you beautiful quilter you!!! I knew these were hiding away somewhere and I can't tell you how happy I am to see them pop up all awake. I think all the thought you're putting into this with your fabrics is really going to make it something super stunning. Not that you don't do that anyway but… well I'm just highlighting that in this pattern because (ahh gee I'm making bad sentences with my delight….)

You go Nanette! Every single melon is a joy to look at with your fabric choices. No matter how big it is in the end it will be wonderful.

Wow Nanette -- your blocks are gorgeous! I'm really feeling the pull to do some sort of detailed scrap quilt too -- just too obsessed by my current UFO pile which seems to grow, rather than shrink. I can't wait to see this quilt again!

I just love that quilt... my DIL borrowed my MO@ book... I am going to have to get it back from her and make this quilt! Especially since you have renamed it!!! That cracks me up!(BTW, a month ago I wouldn't have known who that was)!
I can't stop drooling over your blocks!

Love your blox!!! Trying to find the book. There are two versions of material obsession two—“shared inspiration” & a different second line book. Could you please share which book the gypsy kiss pattern is in? Appreciate your help!!!
