Sunday lunch after church is usually a popular event at our house with most everyone there depending on the week. Its not always easy to figure out what to fix. Today we had breakfast for lunch and it was yummy. I made French toast, sausage, hash browns and baked eggs.

This is the before picture of baked eggs.

I used extra large muffin tins today with 2 eggs each but you can use regular muffin tins with just one egg. First spray the muffin tin very well with Pam so the eggs won't stick. Then line each of the cups with 1-2 slices of precooked bacon. I usually get the precooked bacon at Costco. Crack 1-2 eggs into each cup. Top with 1 tsp milk, 1 tsp butter, salt and pepper. The recipe also calls for a sprinkle of finely chopped thyme and parsley and fresh Parmesan cheese. However, today I didn't have fresh herbs or Parmesan cheese. And they were almost just as good.

Bake for about 18 minutes at 350. For the large muffin tins I bake for about 25 minutes. My family likes the yolk fairly firm.

This the after picture of the baked eggs.

When Whitney got married we had a family brunch before the wedding at my best friend Laura's home. I'm lucky enough to live right across the street from Laura. Who do you know who would host a wedding brunch for you at their house catering for 75 people? Anyway this is her recipe. She's a fabulous chef and much of what I know about making great food comes from cooking with her.

Baked eggs are so fast and easy even my 12 year-old son sometimes makes them himself.

I decided to make something hand-made for my friend's birthday. Knowing her favorite color is hot pink, I decided to make her a little bag, hilighting this color. I used some merino wool yarn from Knit Picks. I worked it in a checkerboard pattern, and felted it (I am in LOVE with felting lately). For handles, I attatched 2 i-cords worked in the dark blue. It was a lot of fun to make, and I really hope she likes it!-

My Civil War fabrics arrived from Purl for my Dear Jane Quilt. I do like them but the colors are pretty drab for my 30's-50's fabric taste. Its good to do something out of my comfort zone once in a while. And I got Brenda's book in the mail, too. I've got some serious sewing to do this weekend to keep my Etsy store stocked. I'm not complaining! - nanette

I won a give-a-way at Sarah's blog, Pink Petal Designs. I love to win! Sarah is a great crafter that lives in the UK and does lovely work. I received my prize yesterday. I won a keyring and a tissue holder. Of course I'm delighted! Her Etsy shop has some darling things in it. Thanks Sarah!
I finally found my outer border fabric for my bird quilt - see above. Its pretty and the birds are perfect.

I was really excited when Wren, my machine quilter, called and told me my Vintage Christmas Quilt was finished and ready to be picked up. She always does such a great job and I was really happy with it. I finished the binding but I hate to fold it and put it away because its so pretty. I can't wait to show it to my friend Flora because she hates Christmas fabric and I think she will really like this take on vintage Christmas balls. I had so much fun making Elizabeth's pattern. Wren quilted ribbon all through the quilt blocks and little Christmas balls patterned after the appliqued balls. I think she did a super job.
I could have quilted it myself because its a small quilt but I'm so glad I took it to a professional.

Also, I finished my first Dear Jane quilt block. I joined the Dear Baby Jane quilt blog group and I think there are 27 of us working on this quilt. I have only very few Civil War fabrics in my stash so I really had to search. I found several I can use from what I have and ordered some small pieces from Purl. This is my first block.
Its quite a change of pace for me but its always good to try new things and gain new skills. I am going to make 1 block of as many different blocks possible. I just can't decide on black or off white sashing at this point. I think I'll have to sew more blocks before I decide. It was fun to make the first block. Of course this is the easiest one in the book, so I'm cautiously optimistic. - nanette

Last year I subscribed to Marie Claire Ideas. Of course it's all in French, which I don't speak. But the pictures are so lovely and the ideas so inspirational I don't even care that I can't read it. It springboards my creative side into thinking of so many things I could make with some of these ideas. If you can find this magazine I highly recommend picking it up. I wonder what bookstores carry it?

The magazine was so full of beautiful things and these are only a very few . . .

I love cups and saucers. They are so pretty. My house is no longer pick (or blue) but This is just beautiful. They are just decoupaged on the front of the cabinet.

Very clever.
I keep hoping to find an armless chair at a thrift store to recover. This one is so romantic and inviting.
How cute is the face on this little stuffed toy!
Such a darling quilt.
And great appliqué on the tablecloth.
Notice the forks on the lamp.
I found some dish towels like these on sale at Anthropologie last year. I can't even bear to take them out of the packaging to use them because they are so cute. I know I could make some.

This fat quarter also was a find yesterday. I love the Tiffany blue and the ribbon. Wouldn't that look great as fabric for an appliqué teapot? So many things I want to do, so little time! - nanette

I finished my Ginger Blossom Tumbler Bows baby quilt. Acutally I made 2 of them. I'm going to sell one on Etsy (it just sold) and give one to my new grandniece when she is born. I have an extra set of blocks all cut out and I'm going to list it as a kit on Etsy (including pattern).

One fat quarter of each of the fabrics in the line will make 2.5 tumbler baby quilts. So I augmented one of the quilts with extra fabrics from my stash that coordinated with the colors. And for all 3 I added some little pink bird fabric for a novelty. I machine quilted them with stitch in the ditch.
I love putting minky on the backs of baby quilts. It just makes them extra soft and special. The Ginger Blossom fabrics are quite bold but I think they are attractive for a young mom and baby.

Its a new month and spring is in the air. YAY. It has been in the high 40s for a few days now. Its so nice. There is still plenty of snow hanging around but every day there is less! Since it's March it's time to change and hang different quilts around the house. (just because I said it was nice out, it started to snow this afternoon ---thats what I get)

A few years ago Our local quilt group had a challenge to use as much of our stash during that year as possible. I can't remember how many quilts I made that year but I was motivated. And I'm proud to say I won. This spool quilt is one that I made that year. I constructed the thread in an uneven strip pattern and I grouped the scraps into colors so the spools would look like varigated thread. I have an old olive wooden spool that inspired me to use olive for the spool part of the quilt blocks. My machine quilter, Wren, quilted it like woven thread on the spools. The border is just strips of scraps that I mitered in the corners. I love the scrappy look and this one is probably one my scrappiest quilts. - nanette
