Let's Play House Dress Quilt

"Let's Play House" is the border fabric (sadly out of print) for the baby version of my little girl's dress quilt; and now it's finally sashed, quilted and bound.

You are probably thinking "enough with the little dresses quilts" but over the weekend I finished the baby quilt version made with dress blocks like the larger 'Laundring Dresses' quilt from last year's quilt group challenge. I did show a far away photo of the large quilt before on the blog but I hung the big quilt up in my sewing room this weekend and took some better photos of it. It really is one of my favorite quilts and was popular in the quilt show last year and in our group. I loved playing with trim and buttons to individualize each dress and of course picking out fabric for the dresses was as fun as playing paper dolls. When it came to making the smaller 'Let's Play House' baby-sized version I couldn't use anything that could come off and cause potential choking so I used french knots for buttons and machine secured all the trim. I think the baby quilt would be very cute hung on the wall in a little girl's bedroom. I've got enough of the border fabric left that I could make 1 more baby quilt. I would enjoy sewing more dresses, but for now I think I'll move onto other things.

I am in love with these dresses! You cannot post enough projects with them. Why is it that little things (like little dresses) are so cute?

Wow, I can't believe the hostility sent my way from sweet Nanette. I think you need to have a therapy session with paper piecing. Become one with the paper piecing. I can send you some relaxing music and incense if you need! LOL You could have an entire blog about those little dress quilts and I would be happy! They are the sweetest things. Love Stacy
