Getting things Done

Whew what a good weekend. It was certainly nice to take an extra day and be able to sew and be with family. I made a list on Thursday last week of things I needed to get done and completed all but one of them.

Des sent me this darling elephant fabric. As soon as I opened the package Thursday night I knew what I wanted to make with it. Quilt Taffy has a tutorial for making a darling simple elephant and I enjoyed it so much I had to make 2 of them. Des has her elephants up today on their blog, too. And those turned out darling and so charming. It is a great(free) tutorial for a nice gift to give to just about anyone. Des and Corrie have a great online store for fabric and patterns and a fun blog. Don't you just love tutorials. Thanks Des! I love the fabric and the tutorial was well done.

Keeping caught up on Dear Jane is definitely at the top of my list. I finished our Thursday block from last week, D-10 Battlefield. Wow. So so many pieces. I intentionally left off the little details that would be in the corner of the outer strip of blue fabric. By the time I got to the outside I felt enough was enough. And for myself I don't miss it at all. The new block up today looks less complicated but needs to be mirrored. So I'm going to tackle it tonight without stressing over it but try to get the mirroring right.

I finished my flimsy of the new dress quilt and it is at the quilters (Wren). I forgot to photograph it since I was so anxious to get it out the door to her. I need it done for our local quilt show in Alpine on August 9, so I traded her one quilt I had in the que waiting for quilting for the dress quilt. We'll see how it turns out. Wren does a good job.

My best friend Laura has started her blog. It is S'More Cupcakes. Click the link or find it on my sidebar. Laura is slightly a reluctant blogger but she's got so much talent to share with the rest of us that I may have pushed her a little firmly into blogging. I know you will enjoy her blog. She is really the best cook/chef I know and she has great taste in decorating and she sews! How great is that. I've had all kinds of requests for recipes for her cupcakes and other creations and I think she will share some of those with us from time to time.

More weekend accomplishments to come - stay tuned.

Nanette - Thank you for the fabric that you sent me. I will be posting pictures soon. I love them. You sent me some from your kitchen collection...I love them. I'm not entirely sure what to do with them...but I'm thinking of using some of the fabric on dish towels and others to make large hotpads for my corning ware. What do you think? Thanks again!

Your Dear Jane block looks lovely. I really like the little green floral print with the dark blue. And all those points look great!

Who knew it was going to be an elephant kind of day?? AND twin elephants at that! On three sites now. :D Cute little guys you have there. Okay, the paper piecing diagram/mirroring just gives me a headache to look at it and try to figure it out. I am glad that it makes sense to you. Your quilt block looks great to me. Oh the DRESS quilt! LOVE the one square you are showing us. How long till it is home from the quilter and we can see some pictures? I can't believe you didn't take pictures of it :0
