Getting ready for Bunny Day

When my kids were little we differentiated between Easter and Bunny Day. Easter was Sunday and a religious holiday. Bunny Day was the day before Easter on Saturday. That was the day we hid eggs and ate candy. I have heard it is a trend to celebrate nothing around Easter. Could that really be true? I hope not.
I have Peep love. Shelbie brought these home from the store last night (thanks Shelbie). The colors are so beautiful, though deceptive, because all Peeps taste like Peeps no matter what the color. Except those chocolate ones. Lets just say my mind isn't completely made up about chocolate Peeps. They are tasty but a bit odd. We'll see if they last until Bunny Day. (yeah right)
I got my Easter Egg quilt back and promptly bound and hung it up in my sewing room. I'm happy with it. I love the colors and it makes me smile to look at it.
Eeep, crooked picture. But if you look closely you will see bunnies quilted into the fabric.
This bunny is upside down. The quilting created a really sweet pattern with the bunnies facing every direction. It was quilted by Wendy at Eagle Mountain Quilting.

"All Dressed Up Quilt" alert - For those of you with my pattern I told you about Sherri making pinwheels with the extra fabric from the snowball blocks in the quilt. Well Susan has gone one step up. You've got to go see how clever she is with making the pinwheels and snowball blocks in one step. I was going to swipe some pictures from her to show but she tells it best. It is a neat trick and I will be doing this next time whenever I make a snowball block. Thanks to Susan and Sherri for making the pattern their own by adding their own expertise. Isn't that most of the fun.

everything always looks so finished after it's quilted. i used Susan's method when i made a quilt full of flying geese. it takes longer but you're off and ready for the next project.

Nanette, you sweetie for mentioning that and I even know how I am going to use them--did you see Jodi's tutorial for a baby quilt on Moda Bake Shop? I have seen your Easter Egg quilt showing up around blogland too. Love peeps!

Your Easter Egg quilt is great! I'm definitely going to use Susan's method from now on! What a time-saver!

What a good idea to call it Bunny Day. We did our bunny stuff the day before too last year and it worked out well, plus then we go to my inlaws for an egg hunt with all the cousins Saturday afternoon. I have always wished that here Santa came on Christmas Eve morning and we went to church on Christmas Day.

I love the bunnies quilted in. That is so cute. I always quilt my own quilts, but I don't know how to do anything like that. What cute quilt!

Oh my I love that idea to differentiate the two days! I've always wanted to do something like that, but didn't get it accomplished. Love the darling 'bunny' quilt and all the fabrics! Your kid's fingerless glove hands yesterday is so cute!

p.s. I think I've already told you that I love peeps, especially dried out, if I can wait! love the colors this year, my sister brought me some pretty oranges ones. I haven't tried chocolate!?

I thought those looked like quilted bunnies when I first looked at it! Cute job. I love it.

And thanks for the link to Susan's. Everyone is having so much fun with your pattern!

Well trust me not to know what a peep is....lol..... I suppose that means I'll need to shop and find out for myself. Love your Easter egg quilt, and how sad to think that a trend of not celebrating Easter is emerging.

What? I'm trying to wrap my mind around the poster before me not knowing what a peep is????
I really like the idea of candy and eggs day separate from the day of the Lord. Problem is--all the public egg hunts are on Sunday. hmmm... Will discuss w/Melissa and see what she thinks.
The rabbit border on your egg quilt really is the magic touch. Great quilting, too!

We love peeps at our house, too. I will have to find those chocolate ones. Very cute quilt. Have a great day. Julie

I Love peeps, but I have to open them and let them sit for a couple of days. I like them a little chewy.

We have a Saturday Bunny day too. It helps us to be a little more reverent on Easter Sunday.

Thanks for your sweet comments about my sew-along. It was a lot of fun!

I don't know what peeps are, but I have a feeling I am missing out. Hmm.

Boy, I don't know about those chocolate bunnies Nanette -- can they be legitimately called peeps if they aren't baby chickens??? Your egg quilt turned out SO cute! I was surprised when I saw that bunny border in a quilt shop last weekend -- I thought it was one of your vintage finds!

Nanette, the egg quilt turned out adorable! I am going to have to make one of those. For next year. :)

I also love Peeps, but not the flavored ones. I think Jenny got me some stawberry or vanilla ones, not so tasty. No need to mess with a good product.
Your Easter Egg quilt turned out neat, I thought I spied bunny ears in the first photo. The quilting added a perfect touch.

Love all the Spring colors in your quilt. Many plants in bloom and I love Spring especially after Ohio winters. I must be the only person who absolutely can not stand peeps! My kids used to like to blow them up in the microwave.

Nanette, I love your egg quilt - it turned out adorable! And I love Peeps almost as much! I've already consumed a couple of packages of them this season! But chocolate Peeps??? I may have to indulge...
Cheers!

Last year they had red ones at Target I didn't seem them this year.
Tonight I'm binding a quilt- lazy/shooting star. When I made it, I did the same thing as Sherri did with her snow balls. And I did Buffalo Troubles with the bonus hsts...your quilt is so cute also.

Love the egg quilt Nanette. My nephew's baby quilt is heading off to be machine quilted this morning and I've picked out a quilting design with little lambs. I can't wait to see it when it's done!

Peeps RULE!

I just love how your Easter egg quilt turned out--the bunny quilting just ties a pretty bow on it all! Chocolate peeps? Hmm, may have to give those a try. I can get by with about one peep a year....just for old time's sake.

Yummy peeps!

The egg quilt is sooooo cute! One to do next year as time is getting away - this head cold has put a damper on my sewing plans.

I simply must get back to my dresses and finish that quilt - I was so anxious and excited and then fizzled out. So silly!

I'm not one for Peeps, but my grandbabies love them, so I send them some every Easter-time.
Your egg quilt is adorable - the quilting is too cute!
Thanks for the link to Susan's blog - I love how she made windmills from the excess fabric. She's one smart cookie!

What? not celebrate our risen Savior. That is a shame.
Your quilter sure is fast and talented. That is so great that she put bunnies on it.
I have used that technique before with the half square triangles but I had totally forgotten about it. I will use it when I make my little dress quilt which I plan to start in a couple of months. Can't wait to pick out "dresses"
