Weekend trip to Quilting Cottage

Saturday Shelbie and I had some errands to run. It was my son's 14th birthday (Happy Birthday Mason) and he is growing out of all his clothes. On our way to find him some new church pants (on sale Ross - yayy) we stopped at the Quilting Cottage in American Fork to drop off some patterns and find some coordinating fabric for a bag I'm making.
Quilting Cottage is located directly across from the public library in American Fork in a sweet old home. It was fun to browse the store and visit with old friends there. I ran into Janene (she gave us the fabulous lap boards at our quilt group) as she was shopping and Suzanne, who is my pal and runs the store.
The high ceilings in the main rooms lend themselves to hanging lovely ideas around the perimeter. Aren't these holiday mini quilts cute against the transoms?
This patchwork quilt looks great positioned over the decorative trim.
On the other side are bags and aprons. If you look closely you can see my "Mixed Bag" up there.
One quilt Shelbie and I were especially in love with is this flimsy made from new Moda fabric. It has a Japanese type feel to it and the colors are wonderful. Shelbie's trying to think of something fun to make with this line. (or have me make ;-))
This is my favorite corner of the store where my favorite fabrics are found and that dress quilt sure looks familiar!
More aprons and bags. You can see there is so much that catches your eye.
Here is Suzanne. Her grandson popped into the store to bring her a treat while we were there.
We thought this quilt was especially cute too. I love everything about it including the applique and center block. I really like that idea of bordering with strips of different fabrics.

Later this week I'll show you the fabric I bought for my bag lining and trim. I have to get a little more finished on it first.

Spring and St. Paddy's day tomorrow!

Thanks for the tour of the Quilting Cottage. That's one place I haven't been yet. Did they move into this building in the last two years? I'll have to check it out next time I drive up North.

Fun store! I wish we could make it that far south on our shop hop. Just never venture past Gardner Village.

Oh my, I love that last quilt. Looks so simple but the little bar- detail just makes it.
You must have hated to leave after that experience. Oh but you said you go there often. Lucky you!

Neat quilt shop. It's always nice to completed projects for ideas. I usually like to add my own personal touch or put a couple of ideas together.

Nanette,

It looks like you've been busy but, I didn't want you to miss the party that's going on at my place. Come by for a visit and stay awhile if you get a chance. You won't want to miss out. Invite Flora too and you can bring your friends with you if they want to come.

Hugs, Kim

P.S. I love all of the pictures of the quilts.
