Fabric Friday Basics

Fabric Friday today goes back to basics in fabric. I have a stash of basic fabrics that I use all the time in most of my projects.
I've thrown a few basics together to show you. I'm sure you have these in your stash too.
I love stripes of all sizes, wide, medium and large. These mini stripes are perfect for binding and accents in my quilts.
Baby gingham - love it. This is not your grandmother's gingham. You can see these 3 are from Lecien. They have a great feel to them and are a great quilt weight. I wish I had them in more colors.
More gingham but bigger. I love the rich gold color and the bias set of the green and gold. The pale orange and pink are really great for bindings too.
Finally dots. I have dots of all sizes and colors in my stash and I love them. Dots are my favorite. I probably have them in every quilt.
I put together a new sample quilt of my Kettles in the Kitchen for a quilt shop. I used my basics in this quilt to rest the eye and accent the bolder prints and novelty fabrics. More pics from this quilt next week. I'm off to Christmas shop. Have a nice weekend.

Love the rich gold gingham! I'm a huge New Orleans Saints fan and that's the perfect color. Where did you find it? Please email me. salinda at personalitychildrensclothes.com

Your basics are beautiful. Gingham colors are so much more vibrant than they used to be. And like you said, better fabric too.

I agree, every quilt should have dots. I believe all my quilts do. Loving those fabrics.

There is something about good quality basics isn't there, they just make all the other fabrics jump out so beautifully. Have a fabulous time Christmas shopping xo

I LOVE Lecien! Where do you buy it? Is there a local shop, or do you have to order it online?

Your basics are so much fun! That's one thing I need to work on for my stash....which means one more reason to buy fabrics :)

Now that you mention it, you do have polka dots in every quilt. I didn't realize that until now. And I need to add more basics to my stash too.

Interesting post, sometimes I get to the quilt shop and think what do I need (in terms of background or basics) and fall back on solids too often. I'll certainly keep this in mind. Thanks

Oh, your basics are fabulous! The dots make me think of a mini Dresden Plate with each spoke of the plate done in a different dot! :-) And I love the gingham!! And, of course, the stripes.
