Fabric Friday and what is going on with me ...

Happy Fabric Friday. I'm posting ahead today, which I do most of the time anyway, but this time it is because last night would have been our first over-nighter for Allison at Nanny's house. I hope it went well. (Gosh that sounds over complicated but right now in real time it is Thursday.) Shelbie and I might be very sleepy today (meaning Friday). Whew.

My DVR broke this week, which isn't a big deal because they just send a new one no charge, but there goes all my saved old movies. And while I was playing in St. George last week it was warm at home and every living thing in my yard came alive and sprouted buds and blossoms, including weeds. Spring is in bloom here from 0 to 60 all while I was gone. Now for fabric.
Isn't this Robert Kaufman fabric terrific. Look at those teapots and teacups, wow! So 70s. I sorta wish the colors would go better with red but I love them anyway.
I'm pulling grays and some gray blues for the pickle dish/gypsy kisses quilt. I want the blocks in the corners to be gray. These are from Sew Mama Sew.
I really love these 2. I figure the black and white look gray if you squint your eyes a bit. Well maybe not, but I'm using it anyway.
Speaking of the pickle dish quilt. I nearly ran out of this blue and white scrap piece for this unfinished block above. But I searched and searched in my small pieces to find just barely enough fabric to complete the block. I nearly had to beg for everyone to look in their stash for me as a back up because this dot is years old and I can't get anymore (trust me I tried). But I'm just barely okay. I hate that paper piecing uses more fabric than you think it will. I've been trying to make 1 block a day and so far it is working out. But not only does paper piecing take more fabric, it takes time, too. At least I think so.
I got this hounds tooth fat quarter set at Superbuzzy. I've always loved hounds tooth. These are cotton quilting weight, which are hard to find in hounds tooth. I remember the black and white wool hounds tooth from the 60s my mom had on her shelf. I think my sister got a dress out of it.

Happy weekend all.

How did Allison do on her first overnighter? I bet it was so fun for you to have her there.
I always love your fabric Friday posts. The teacup and teapots are wonderful!

I LOVE TO PAPER PIECE! But, I wholly agree it uses MORE fabric and takes MORE time! But I love it anyway...BTW, what is the paper pieced pattern? Pickle Dish/Gypsy Kisses?

Oh your first sleepover! Nothing better than a warm sweet smelling little one in your arms at 2 AM. I used to love that time. I am sure it went well!
Love the hounds tooth, I thought it only came in wool, super fabric day!

The teacups and teacups are totally vintage looking.....in fact, at first look, I thought they were vintage! Ah, the first sleepover. I'm betting it was fun! I love to have my grandson visit for a sleepover. They were especially fun when he was little. Lotsa good memories. :-)

You just had to show more fabric that I must have! lol How do you manage to do that?

I've had a couple of DVR's break - and each time I've lost all the episodes that I've been "saving" to watch at another time. It is really annoying.

I love the houndstooth fabrics! Very unique. I love paper piecing but I agree that it's frustrating to waste fabric that ends up in odd shapes when you trim it away.

I hope your sleep-over went well!

Jennifer :)

All you fabric is so pretty. I especially like the teacups and teapots. I had a black and white houndstooth doubleknit top and leggings that I made for myself back in high school. Ah, memories!

Love the teacups and tea pots.
I agree with you on paper piecing. Maybe that is why it's not my favorite method.

You are working on your Pickle Dish? Good for you! I haven't touched mine since you left. I've been working on Sunny Days with both Lori and Rae Ann. (and more Texture Magic designs).
How did Allison do for her first sleep over? I get all 3 grandbabies in June and I can hardly wait to kiss on them.

Aren't those teacups and pots great?! I was surprised at how large they are in person compared to my expectation when seeing them online. I love a good houndstooth too. Sorry your blue dot fabric is going to be a little squeeze-y for the pickle dish. PP does use up a lot of fabric.

The teapots and cups are so adorable! Oh, so glad that you have enough of blue dots for this block :) Paper-piecing do take up so much fabric.
Nice collection hounds tooth fabrics. Those greys are gorgeous!

I can't wait to see more of the pickle dish with those wonderful fabrics. At least the paper piecing gives precision and the effect is worth a little sacrifice.
I had a black and white houndstooth skirt way back when. Love the colours in the range. I hope little Alison's sleep over went well.
