Thank you for your sweet comments while I was gone. I won't go back to answer them but I read them all and I really appreciate hearing from my friends on the blog.
Our lovely time sewing was hosted by the fabulous Nedra. I will describe Nedra, for those of you that don't know her, as someone who always thinks of others, someone who is positive and upbeat and lives true to who she is. She's talented and kind. She opened her home to several of us last week to get together and sew, cooked us lunch, and made us feel so welcome. Thank you Nedra. And it was her birthday!!! The day she should be spoiled herself, she was spoiling us. Nedra gave me a mini class in making the pickle dish blocks (see design board below). She's such a patient teacher. I actually think I can make this foundation block quilt.
Here is the famous and multi-talented Lori. Lori and I share so much in common. We find out more and more things we share all the time. We even have matching Singer Featherweight machines. Lori always wows me with her projects and style and I want to do everything she does and I always come away happy and excited to create. Lori amazes me with the ease in which she makes things perfectly and the way she creates beauty around here everywhere she goes. My favorite thing about Lori though, is how she makes me laugh.
Then there is Rae Ann. I am sorry for this lousy photo. Rae Ann has a glow about her so this dark photo does not do her justice. Rae Ann always has a hand out to lift someone up and share her ability to find good in any of life's situations and challenges. She's enthusiastic and thoughtful. She makes me feel like I'm special. Isn't that an amazing quality in a friend?! Rae Ann juggles her busy life with such strength and reliance on the spirit. I admire that so much.
I have to say I visited more than I sewed but I did come away with a good start on Gypsy Kisses/Pickle Dish I've been wanting to try for a long time. It was such valuable time and more was accomplished than what is visible to the eye. It isn't often I get to sew with true stars.
More later ....

Nanette, It sounds like you had a wonderful time!! I look forward to seeing your progress on this quilt. It is a terrific design and what you have done so far looks great. Yes, you do have a terrific teacher in Nedra. You were surrounded by such fabulous ladies all week, how could you not have a great time?
I keep telling Rae Ann I'm envious of your group! Lucky you and all so fun!!
Looks like you had a wonderful time. What would all of us do without our friends?!!! Your description of your friends tells how much you all enjoy each other. Rae Ann glows even in the dark photo. :-) Someday, I'm going to come and meet you all. Love that quilt block in your featherweight!
What great descriptions of all three ladies! And I love the beginnings of your pickle dish quilt!
Next time can I come and carry your fabric and machine? I'll be good! Looked like a super fun time!! xo, The Other Nanette
Thank you so much for sharing a bit more about those wonderful ladies. I described your week end to Nedra as "Bliss" - wouldn't you agree?
I love all the wonderful photos. I can't get over all the blocks on the wall in back. You always inspire me to try more intricate blocks. Well you just always inspire me.
Lots of quilting stars there! I love to see people sewing on their featherweights.
You are one of my brightest quilting stars nanette...we sure had a wonderful time didn't we?

I think you're ALL quilting stars, and how wonderful that you got to sew together and enjoy each other's company as you did!
You girls are all so lucky! And look at you -- the sweetest and nicest ever!!!
I'm glad you had such a wonderful time and can't wait to hear more!
It always looks like you are having so much fun! Can you tell us a little bit about how you picked out your featherweight? I'm thinking I need one.
Thanks.
Oh, Nanette, you honor me so! It was me who felt so privledged to have you here. The time together went too fast and I miss you already!
Sooo nice that you all had a wonderful time... it is really awesome that you got to be with your dearest friends and share your love for quilting. The pictures are beautiful! Your gypsy kisses are so sweet... can't wait to see more of them :)
I am sure the girls feel the same about you too!! As I read all the girls blogs I could tell you have become very close friends, how wonderful for all of you!!
Nanette ~ You are "SPECIAL" and I am so happy that I was able to attend such a great retreat with all of you wonderful talented women. I must say... I came away a better person from getting to know you. You are stitched deep in my heart! Until our next time... smile on... quilt long!
I bet your counting down until you can do this all over again. What a bunch of fabulous ladies. Love seeing what you were all up to and the pickle dish is looking a bit special.
Thanks for giving us apeek into your vacation and these girls who we all read and love!
Hi Nanette,
I first saw the pickle dish pattern in Kaffe's book, now in Material Obsession 2 and would love to try it! I've found that paper piecing is right up my alley and although there have been several tense moments between us (lol), I always have a smile on my face in the end!
