So I have to confess this is the first year I have faltered and even considered not getting a tree. Can't believe it! I ran into some road blocks and one thing lead to another....I didn't get my tree until last Friday the 10th. I know. As crimes go this is not really a death penalty but I was feeling pretty awful about it....
...until Jamie and Laurie went and picked out a tree and brought it home. Dave got the tree all situated in the entryway. And Mason helped me decorate. It is all done now and I am so happy about it. How could I have considered NOT having a Christmas Tree??
My favorite thing about the tree is my homemade ornaments. They just make me really happy and help me remember Christmas past with fun projects.
My Christmas Cottage quilt really makes me smile and I can't walk past it without stopping to admire and remember all the great friends I've made through blogging. Love seeing the blocks my friends made me. I really do adore this quilt. My friend Flora gave me the border print and it couldn't be more perfect.
I decided to put my small collection of vintage Christmas balls on my little 3 tiered stand. Was it Belinda or Elaine that told me I should do that? Both gals are such encouraging friends. (or maybe it was someone else? )Whoever it was, thanks for suggesting that. They are perfect here.
I like my little fabric houses, too. So many of you made those as well. Getting out these past Christmas projects to spread around really made my weekend. The house now smells and feels like Christmas is coming.
Here is my little tree from Rae Ann. I took it out of the stand so you could see how smartly she wrapped a fat quarter around the base. Everything on the tree is sewing themed. Isn't Rae Ann amazing. It is the most clever gift.
I went to lunch with the girls the first of the month but I didn't want to open my gifts from them because I like to wait until Christmas. However, Rae Ann's gift had to be enjoyed. I have this tree in my sewing room so it can inspire me.
Here is a sneak peek at what I've been working on. More on these darling carolers later this week.
I'm finally enjoying my Christmas music instead of feeling guilty now since my house is ready for Christmas. (I'm not but the house is and that is at least a start).

PS: Eagles won last night against Dallas. Yayy.

I love everything...esp. your sewing themed tree. I will have to keep my eyes open after Christmas for a little tree for my sewing nook next year.
I'm glad you got a tree up...I'm sure your grandbaby will enjoy it.
Glad you decided on a tree afterall:) I love your cottage quilt - working on making my own from bee partner blocks for next year! The carolers are the sweetest. A great reason to start a wool stash!!
You are way ahead of me. I usually don't put my tree up until the week before Christmas. Love the quilt.
Exciting game last night! Go Eagles!
I always love to see pictures of your Christmas cottage quilt...and those carolers...love them....you have sure been busy!
I LOVE those carolers. Are you using a pattern?
I am IN LOVE with your house quilt and those carolers!!!!! Oh oh, I want one of each RIGHT NOW!! :D And I need to get started making some house blocks to share too....oh I'll never get it all done before ole St. Nick shows up. Where ARE those darned elves anyway???
christmas is looking good at your house. ;)
I love your Christmas tree and your house quilt...I could even pick out my house! That was such a fun swap! I know what you mean about Christmas...this year I was NOT going to put ALL of it out...but then I swear I could hear those ornaments and decorations screaming at me..."Let me out! It's my time to shine!" Hearing talking ornaments or putting it all up were my only two choices so I surrendered and decked out the house and I'm SO glad I did...it's just not Christmas until that last ornament is on the tree! Love your carolers!!! xo, Nan
We just got our tree up last night! But it still isn't completely decorated. Love your banner, trees, and Christmas quilt, and of course all the handmade touches that really make it "you"!
Ours went up too yesterday, and I feel much more cheery today. Such a nice Christmas post. I love the Christmas cottage quilt. That's on my list for next year, I hope!
Everything looks so festive. I'm glad you decided to go ahead with the decorating. I especially love the Christmas cottage quilt.
OMG I totally adore your carollers, I wish I had a bundle of those sitting by my front door to greet me when I come home!!
Happy Christmas.xxx
WOW! very festive and Christmasy in every corner. The handmade ornaments and trinkets are so sweet! The quilt is a perfect backdrop for everything! Your Carollers are too cute for words. Thank you for the link to the tutorial. I have to make them some day :)
Nanete, your decorating always looks so beautiful and the quilt only complements it. I made a wall hanging of my Christmas houses and it too reminds me of my cyber friends.
Oh I love your Christmas decor! Especially that house quilt. I feel like I've seen it up at a Quilt Show before??? Maybe the one in A.F. Is that right? Well, I love it and I love, love, love your quilt from the BOM we're doing in the Alpine Quilt Guild. It is looking fabulous!
Oh, Nanette, you put me to shame. At least we did get the decorations down from the attic over the weekend, and we got the Christmas baking shipped off today. That's a start. Oh, and Mr. Sweetie got the lights put up outside, so at least from there it's beginning to look like Christmas. Everything at your place looks wonderful! (And it wasn't me. I just sent you the link to buy more stuff!)
Everything looks cozy and inviting Nanette...love the real tree, I haven't had one of those in YEARS!!
Yes, it was me who teased you about your 3 tier piece. It is the perfect (and safe) place to display those precious vintage ornaments.....next you could fill that tier with hearts and such for Valentines and then grass and eggs for Easter.....you know, I think I need to find me one of those!!!
I'm so glad to see you are still putting up a live tree. Don't you just love the smell of fresh pin needles?
You have so many beautiful things to decorate for Christmas Nanette! My favorite is the Christmas Cottage quilt!
I had one year without a tree when we moved house two days before CHristmas and it was horrid so glad you went with a tree!!!! Am loving your wee sewing tree - was thinking I might start one myself this year but it may end up staying in my sewing room all year round:) CIao
Nanette....
I'm so happy that you got your tree up!...it's beatiful:)
I think allof your Christmas decor is so you and shows your cute personality.
Of course I still love your house quilt and you already know how I feel about those carolers....I need to make me some asap!

It was worth the wait! I love how you blend your homemade and vintage (and I knew those ornaments were going to a very good home!)
Your house looks so festive and fun. I'm finishing my Christmas Cottage quilt today. Thanks so much for that wonderful exchange. Your caroler's are delighful!
I can't wait to see more about the carolers!!
Your carolers are just sweet as can be!!! I love Rae Ann's tree and all your other decorations. I've never missed a year of putting up a tree although the year before we made our big move, I only put up a small tree. That same tree was set up by my daughter when we moved into the new house just a week before Christmas. The homemade ornaments are just the best. And I love your cottage quilt and even see my block behind the tiered ornmanent tray. One of these days I'll get my blocks sewn into a quilt!
Oh look at your carolers! Wow they look great! I love the red, especially. Your Christmas Cottage quilt looks so nice there. I'm glad you got a tree, it wouldn't feel like Christmas without it!
I love those carolers! How did you do the faces? did you draw or paint their facial features or was that already printed on the fabric? they are really cool!
The tree always feels so comforting and homey :)
Glad to see you are getting festive. I put up everything in the begining of december. This year I did not put out as much. I just did not feel up to it.
Your Christmas decorations look wonderful, especially your Christmas quilt. It's so bright and cheery, how could you not smile every time you passed by.
Now aren't you glad you got the tree? It is beautiful.
I see my house block. I still need to put mine together. I have the fabrics for it, just need to take the time.
