Christmas . . . there I said it

Even though it is early November, Christmas is coming like a runaway train. I finally admitted yesterday that I really don't like fall. It felt so freeing to admit that. And I've admitted here before that Christmas isn't my favorite holiday. So basically I'm a Grinch and I just like February to August. But that said, Christmas follows fall and it is coming at me (us). And I'm thinking of projects to make.

I also hate to stuff. HATE it. I do like Thanksgiving stuffing but I hate stuffing with batting.
I made these house ornaments a couple years ago. And I loved sewing them but I really didn't like the stuffing part.
Last year I made these carolers. And the stuffing was really awful. Stitching popped and it seemed like each one held a bag of stuffing.

But I see so many cute things around that are stuffed. This tutorial is really making me want to make house ornaments again. Go see this tutorial HERE. Go. Do it. And then come back. Aren't they incredibly cute! I am almost ready to make more house ornaments using this tutorial. But, there is the stuffing!

I also hate glue guns. I have permanent scars from a past glue messes. But THESE trees are so so incredibly cute! I just tell myself thatI have no talent to make them.
I made these fabric trees a couple years ago and then we made more this past summer with my sisters. So I do want to do something involving fabric, I think. But I've made these a couple times so I'm not wanting to repeat.
And speaking of repeats, I made Christmas banners from vintage tablecloths in the past. So, yeah...not wanting to repeat this either. Even though I liked making them.

I love Sew Mama Sew tutorials and they always have some great things for Christmas. So maybe I'll spend some time in Pinterest and at SMS browsing.

What are YOU making for Christmas this year? I want to know! I'm looking for just a couple good ideas. If your idea doesn't help me, maybe it will help someone else. So share, please.

you've left me little to work with here. I love stuffing. Put in a good Austen flick and a knitting needle and I'm ready to stuff. Let's see what else don't you care for....glue guns?? Glue guns were the hit of the 80's. It's vintage!! Come on!
Here's my current list, sure to put you in a good mood!

Sorry, no ideas from me. I'm still in shock that you said the "C" word.

Kim's little houses are the Cutest! and she did a great job on the tutorial. With all of your talent, trade someone to stuff for you. (like me, if I lived just a tad closer)
I haven't even begun to sew for Christmas.

Quilted Santa hats? No stuffing or gluing, just fabric fun and easy stitching. I've been saving this tutorial for a special occasion, is it time to post?

You're so funny! I love stuffing, well, the thanksgiving kind anyway. For Christmas, I'm going pretty light this year. Maybe some pajamas and American girl clothes. We draw, so if I draw my sister I'll make her an apron that she requested.

I'm feeling just like you this year Nanette. If Corrie calls you Negative Nellie, then maybe I can be Negative Nanette LOL. I don't have any ideas so far -- I'm still in denial. I'll be going through your comments!

I love fall, and me too about Christmas. I hate stuffing, but my glue gun was a good friend when the kids were little and did school and crafty stuff. I still have a scar, but that's another story. I love the houses, I found them on pintrest too. I'm making cupcakes for Christmas , fabric cupcakes that is. I have a recipe (pattern) for a potholder size, but I'm going to minimize it and try to make some small ones to hang.
Beware, pintrest is a time vortex. I tried it out when I was recuperating from surgery recently and now I'm hooked.

Well, I know you are going to concentrate on Allison, and that's as it should be - Christmas is for children. There are none around here, so I'm rather Grinch-like, too. Oh, well. No plans at all other than quilts. Believe it or not, there are still a few people in my family who have not received one from me, yet. LOL And of course, cookies. There is an uprising if I don't sent out lots of cookies.

Stuffing is not fun. I have made some ornaments that require stuffing too.
I have one of those houses and I keep it out all the time. Just so you know that you stuffing was worth. lol

I would love to recapture my love of the holidays. I don't know how to do it though. I'm with you on the stuffing, mine never works out like all the other cooler people's does. No patience maybe. I wish we were closer so we could motivate each other, or at least sit and complain together. Which might be more likely. xo

I am not getting "around the blogging block" much lately but I had to stop by tonight and see what you are up to. Oh, and I see that while I love Fall, you are not so keen on it. LOL! I'm not all that crazy about stuffing either. I do love it that you made those little house ornaments and that I am lucky enough to have one of them on my tree!! And you are right that those little houses are so cute I am sure I will have to make one or two of them. I still want to make those cone trees. So what am I making this year. It is an "eggs-traordinary" project. I am making real egg ornaments this year. I haven't made any in several years and I will be teaching the project to the county extension home group. I'll be sharing about it on my blog in December. It is an easier project than one might think. Really! And it doesn't involve stuffing. LOL! In addition to the eggs, I am just going to try to finish up things like my Cottage Blocks that I can't quite get made into a quilt and a few other projects that need to be finished. :-) Christmas is coming way to fast...........

I adore your Christmas ornaments, Nanette. Especially those Carolers. They are so pretty and sweet. I agree with you, even these little dolls take so much stuffing. It just disappears. I hope you find cute patterns to make with little or no stuffing.
