Cherries

Summer is coming and I've got fruit on my brain . . .
I have always loved cherries. And so I've always loved Mary Engelbreit things. Cherries are so happy and what can be better than red and white?!
I have lots of fabric in my stash with cherries. In fact I would say 80% of the quilts I've made (and there have been hundreds) have at least a little piece of cherry fabric in them.
Probably because I love scrap quilts so much I'm able to sneak a little cherry in here and there. So I ordered Cyndi Walker's new book and it came this week. And I haven't been able to put it down. Its really full of fun looking quilts. And they are scrappy - and so "me".
Cyndi has the cutest cherry quilt pattern (far left) in the new book. I love it. But I also have Elizabeth's Flight of Fancy quilt (with cherries in it) and a cute bowl of cherries quilt pattern my friend Laura gave me that I have been wanting to make. So many cherries, not enough time! All 3 patterns are really cute and are tugging at me to make them.
However, this pattern in Cyndi's book threw me completely over the edge. Lemons! Now I've sewn apples and plenty of cherries but I've never put a lemon in a quilt. Although my favorite fragrance is lemon. I like lemon purfume, lemon air freshener, lemon cleaner, lemon lotion, lemonade, anything lemon. So now what do I do? I love cherries but this lemon quilt is really clever and so fresh looking. I only have so much time to devote to a new summer quilt unless I take up not sleeping like Martha Stewart. So the cherries may have to wait and I'm thinking the lemon may win. Who knows, it might start a new trend for me.

Man I love lemons also. Love, love lemons.

In florida I had a tree that grew PINK lemons!

The sleeping like Martha comment cracks me up, btw.

Oh yeah baby! My kind of post. I loves me some cherries. They say that oranges are a natural antidepressant, but looking at cherries makes me happy. Love the pics today. Thanks!
Hey- and THANKS for the Sarah Smith cloths that arrived today! too cool. I had to go on her website to see 'how to use them'. Aren't I just pathetic? My grandmothers would cringe.

wonderful cherries! I have recently purchased some cherry fabric too. This lemon quilt you show here is so pretty! That would be such a great project. I hope to see you do it!

yum - the humble lemon - we put a little squeeze into almost everything we cook in the tumbledown house and I have a wee bit of lemon oil in my ironing water spray so when I iron, there's a lovely sharp, fresh scent of clean lemon rising from the clothes. I'm also waiting on my lemons to start a new medallion - lemons are IN! Particularly polka dots - very sweet!

somebody else with a blog I read has just finished something that looks very much like your lemon quilt... now I just need to remember who it was! If I do, I'll come back and leave you a note. I have a small stash of cherry fabrics that I'm saving up for something special. Maybe I should take a hint from you and just tuck a couple in each quilt...

I love the Lemons! That is such a cute quilt. But...you could do a Cherry and Lemon quilt!! Wouldn't that be adorable? The colors would be great!

Nanette, I love your bright colors and cherries! The dishes are great-they'd perk up any kitchen. I am a huge Mary Englebreit fan too. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the lemon quilt. Nerm

I love all of your cherries!
Especially that pretty fabric with the blue daisies...too cute!

The lemon quilt is awesome. I can see why you'd be torn as to which one to make.
