Konda is hosting the Jelly Roll Quilt Along and asked me to join her as a guest designer for one of the blocks. Of course I jumped at the chance. And it isn't too late to join us. We are just 2 blocks into the sampler and a new block comes out every 2 weeks. Even I can handle that and keep up! Doesn't everyone have a jelly roll on their shelf that needs to be used?
I recently acquired a Mini Muu Lecien Sushi Roll. The Sushi Roll is just very slightly wider with a few less pieces in it than a jelly roll. So I have to trim off a tiny tiny sliver of fabric but I don't mind that at all.
The instructions also call for a background fabric to be added to your jelly roll. So I chose this strawberry print. And since I will need some extra strips I'm adding this little fabric candy that a *friend* sent to me earlier this year. It goes perfectly.
So this is block #1. You can find the instructions here. It is designed by Konda herself. It is easy and really fun. You can make it in less than an hour.
This is block #2. You can find the instructions for this one here. It is designed by April and was also fun and easy to make in under an hour. Ha, I just saw my stripes are not in the same direction. Oh well. I'm not redoing it.
Sorry for the fuzzy sneak peek. This is the block I designed and mine will be block #6 with instructions out on May 10.
Come on and join us! There are prizes and also a flickr group started to see what everyone is making. Dust off that jelly roll. It isn't a time consuming project and if you keep up it will NOT become a UFO. You can grab the button on my side bar and post it on your blog. And even if you don't have a blog or join the flickr group, you can still sew with us. Come on!!

I am really enjoying the JRS blocks! Look forward to see your design to it!
I love that Mini Muu line! I got myself some FQs (O:
This looks so fun. And your fabrics are delightful. But I don't think I can add one more thing right now. Bummer.
i couldn't help joining and couldn't wait to see what you would pick. goodness gracious. what did you do to your #2. love love love your choice of strawberry background.
Those blocks just look wonderful in your fabric selection!
It looks like a fun project Nanette...love the sushi roll:)
Oh...I do have a jelly roll that is collecting dust in my closet. And you know that you have tremendous influence over me. Will just one jelly roll cover the entire project?
Those blocks with those fabrics - scrumptious!
S.W.A.K.
Shhh. Don't tell but I don't have any jelly rolls. I'm thinking I might have to look for some yummy lucien ones though!
Nanette...you found the perfect fabrics for you...this is going to be an amazing quilt!
Great fabric choice. I'm not participating but I sure am enjoying seeing all of the blocks popping up all over.
love your fabric cant wait to see complete
Oh nuts, you know I cannot say no to you and I just so happen to have a new jelly roll!!! Will one be enough? I am off to grab the button!!
It adds character when the stripes don't all go the same way...that's my motto anyway :) I love that sushi roll...I've only seen them in solids, that one is so cute!
Too cute! Love the blocks you made with the rolls!
Teasing us again Nanette..looks inviting but I really can't take on anymore just now..you girls have fun.

I love the fabric you chose! I'm doing this and finding it totally do-able. 1 block every 2 weeks is just about my pace right now, what with how busy my life seems to be. Can't wait to see your block!!! :)
What a luscious project. Of course the fabrics make it even more so. I'll watch and cheer on.
What beautiful fabrics you're using! They just look so bright and cheerful. I would love to jump in, too, but I've got to get some of these I'm working on out of the way first.
Lots of jars of jelly in my fridge but not a jelly roll to be found in my sewing room! I have yet to buy one! Am trying very hard to not add any new projects and, in fact, have decided not to do a couple that I recently started. Your Mixed Bag isn't one of them. Have almost finished a second one and have plans for a third one. :-) How many bags can one quilter use?......as many as she can make and fill. LOL!
how fun to be a part of a group collaborative quilt along Nanette. I'm going to have to check your block out when it comes out, any block made from minny muu has to be good!
Oh I wanna play too Nanette, but I'm afraid my cup already runneth over! I shall file it away for future dreams :) A quilter needs lots of "future dreams!" Heck, I think I've already created 1,000 quilts in my dreams :) God Bless my dear :)
Nanette ~ You have sold me on this! I think I am headed downstairs to see if I can find a jelly roll... if not I might just have to buy one... how sad can that be! LOL! Love your choice of fabric.
Those blocks are so beautiful and colourful...great job!

This does look like fun but I don't have a jelly roll in my stash. Guess that means I get to go shopping. I just have to find me some of those Sushi rolls too.
How cool! I know your block will be very special.
Would you believe I do not own any jelly rolls. I never knew how to use them. This looks like fun but I am going to pass this time.
i'm so glad you'll be designing a block--can't wait to see it. i sorta kinda am planning to do this quiltalong --picked out my jelly roll and background fabric--but haven't started on any of the blocks yet!
Nanette, your strawberry speckled blocks are so delicious. I'm so excited to see the block you've designed :)
I love the simple squares and rectangles of these blocks. If I didn't have too many projects at this time, I would've jumped right in :(

I'm behind on reading your blog, so I read Friday's first. The fabric in this post is mosty definely YOU. Your blocks are so happy and spring looking.
I've been doing this jelly roll BOM and enjoying it and can't wait to see the block you designed for it!
I think it's okay that your blocks are going in different directions, I thought it was done on purpose! I just found your blog and got hooked in the first minute!
Uh-oh - I was too tempted and even though I said no more new projects I gave in. I'm looking forward to your block!
