Back to Red

I know it doesn't always appear that way, but at my heart, I'm truly a finisher.  Those UFO projects under my cutting table weigh heavily on my shoulders.  I like to get things done and move on.  I started my Red Herring-bone project last year and I was happy to bring it out and make friends with it again.
I'm not quite sure what size it will end up.  Lately all my quilts are queen or king bed size and that is fine with me.  We will see.  I have lots and lots of red I can donate to this little project.
If you want to know how I'm making it, you can review at my original post here called Seeing Red.  It is a simple way to trend the herringbone pattern with scraps.  Quilts like this are my favorites.  Sew and sew and not worry about points since it is mostly just easy seams.
I'm slightly horrified to show you my Row by Row flimsy from Lori's pattern.  It turned out to be one wrinkly unflat quilt top.  I'm praying that Wendy can make something of it.  If she pulls super tight, there is a chance.

I'm really an idiot.  Instead of metering out my machine quilting projects, I've muddled about backs for them so when I finally decided and then waited for the fabric, it ended up that I have 5 very full sized quilts to take to the machine quilter.  It isn't going to be pretty when she tells me how much.  But won't it be worth it!?

Tired.  Goodnight

Very nice! It is amazing how our colors "trend". You said you have lots and lots of red. I don't have enough. But then, I have lots and lots of green.Funny how that happens! Cheers! Toni

I love your red quilts! Great minds clearly think alike. Look what I'm doing and I never saw your red quilt. However, I'm foundation piecing mine, because I like to do that.

Morning Nanette. I like the herring bone. It reminds me of the round the world in that its strips. I like the idea of using one color - for me it would be purple. :) I'm so excited you are taking your quilts to the machine quilter. I should take a couple because by the time she gets them done, then I could afford it. I love the turquoise on the row by row.

I bet Wendy will do wonders with quilting your Row Along. Once it's washed, it will be awesome! Love your colors!

Love how the red herring bone pattern is coming along. Going to be a striking quilt.
My Row Along isn't totally flat. Gave it a simple border which helped, but still not as flat as I like. Quilting will be an adventure :o/

wish I had some red prints! I just finished a top and realize that red backing will just do it...of course no reds to be had at the cottage.
I usually make a top, and finish it. I don't have enough space to store unfinished projects.

I love your red herringbone quilt, I made a scrappy herringbone table runner once. They have a great look. I love your "Lori" quilt. I really like the aqua border. The quilter will be able to straighten it out, they can perform miracles sometimes! The price for quilting is expensive, my husband chokes at the price!!! I know what you mean, I have two large quilts to take with me to Utah in July :) It's always worth it!!! Are you sending a quilt with your daughter to Washington? It would be a little bit of love from home :)

I'm looking forward to the part where you get to bring home five quilted quilts ... it will make everything better.

Doesn't feel great to get the backs together and take the quilts to the machine quilter? I really respect those that quilt their own quilts, but I love going onto the next project.love the Herringbone!
