11 Days Left for Christmas Cottage Exchange

If you haven't started your Christmas Cottage blocks yet, the clock is ticking. Halloween is 11 days away and I am crossing my fingers and hoping that Terri and I recieve all the blocks by October 31. I'm not sure how I mislabeled these blocks on Friday but they are Sabine's blocks from Austria. They were labeled right on my computer but when I typed in the post I made a mistake. Ooops. I'm sorry Sabine. Your blocks are lovely. I love the midnight blue of the houses with the red roofs. They will make a great addition to our quilts!I managed to finish constructing my Christmas Cottage blocks this weekend. Yayy. When I counted I was surprised to find I had made 26! But I wanted to make extra just in case. And as I stated before I'm going to make a Festival of Trees quilt with extras. I still have to square them up a bit. I noticed the more I made the hurrier I got and some of them are a tad flawed. I'll fix them up though. And I still want to add some trim to some of them. The rick rack and green trim above are cotton but I think the black tree trim is acetate. It feels polyesterish so I won't use it. But it is very cute. I have some white and green rick rack too. It will be fun to get them all trimmed and finish pressed.

I did work on a baby quilt this weekend but I also took it kind of easy and watched some TV and read. I didn't blog hop at all. So I've got catching up to do with some of you.

This week I want to start making my Christmas sewing list and make a plan. I have some ideas. Check out Lily's Tomtens. I love them! I'm hoping she will sell a pattern. Think how cute those would be hung on the Christmas tree or tied to a wrapped gift. Lily's work is amazing. Lily pointed me to Wikipedia because I had no idea what these cute little Tomtens were.

-11 days left! Nanette

I never get tired of looking at the cottage blocks - I think the one with Santa on the chimney is adorable! I went to look at Lily's tomtens, and they are the cutest little guys, aren't they? I hope she has a pattern for them, too!

I have to say that I am sooo impressed with all the cottages. They are soo cute and unique. I love all your trim that you have. I am a trim fanatic. I buy it because I love it and then just stare at it, I guess I need to use some.

I just love all those darling little houses. Some folks are so talented. So colorful and original. All the same and at the same time not one the same. Fascinating.
Someday I just may bite the bullet and join a swap. I'm always scared I'll be the only one who won't be able to finish in time and then my name will be mud! LOL

~~Fran...:c)

ps. could you please stop by my blog, as I'm in search of a pattern and I hope someone out there might be able to help me.

((Hugs))

Dear Nanette - what a lovely bloggy friend you are! :-) Thanks so much for sharing my tomtens with all your friends - the pattern is almost done! Abigail is home sick today so I will have several quiet hours to finish the text and then Julian will work his magic. And your cottages are BEAUTIFUL! They are so full of whimsy and Christmas magic - I cannot wait to put together my Christmas cottages quilt - I think I shall use it as a table topper!
