We all love houses. Home is where the heart is, where we belong and are accepted. I love fabric with houses, so today for Fabulous Fabric Friday I thought I would show some of my fabrics with houses on them.
The fabric on the far left is a vintage fabric I've had for quite a while. It features little pink and blue houses. So cute. The next one is a village print with churches, stores and homes. The last one is a grouping of houses with all the things that surround them in the outdoors.
Again from left to right is black, red and white city buildings, the turquoise print is Three Little Pigs and what surrounds the story - the piggie houses!, and the last is a Japanese print of things you see in the city including little houses, cars, dogs, trees and the sun.
What collection of houses would be complete without a toile?, next is a feed sack from my collection with doors, windows and shutters printed all over (I really love that one), and the last is another city scene with a lady walking her little dog. These fabrics of homes gave me the inspiration for the Cottage block.
Home should be a happy place. I talked to my family last week about being extra nice and loving in our home when the world has such problems and the news is so dismal. We have to work especially hard on having our homes be a place of refuge right now.
Pam's blog is one of the first blogs I started to read quite a while ago. I was drawn by her humor and her great taste in fabric and print and her lovely sewing and quilting talents. Now I really do not make an effort to copy Pam but I have noticed that we tend to gravitate towards similar items. It really is purely coincidence that today I'm showing my yo yo kit I bought from Jen Duncan and Pam is showing the same thing on her blog! I had no idea she bought this from Jen's Etsy store. And now I realize Monica has one too. I feel like I'm in good company.
I really like Jen's blog. She does such lovely things and has a great point of view. I bought this little yo yo kit for a gift but since it arrived I don't know if I can part with it! Jen has a way of putting things together to make something simple like making yo yos be like having a party.
The girls at Quilt Taffy have such a fun blog and great fabric store. There is always something good going on with Des and Corrie. Every Thursday they have a cool giveaway at their blog. And guess who won yesterday's drawing???? Me! Yep. Yep. Des says I'm way too lucky and I should be called Yes Yes Nanette. Well yesterday she was right. I am going to get this magazine in the mail from the Quilt Taffy girls. I can't wait to get my Quilts and Gifts from them and incorporate some of the ideas into my Christmas sewing. Thanks Des and Corrie. I am so excited.
Make a nice peaceful weekend everyone. We may get some snow in Utah. And don't forget about Melissa's Cottage Warming Party on Monday!!! She's got some sneak peeks there today.

Hi Nanette,
Just stopping by to say thank you for the birthday song, and to see what is going on in your world. I love all your house fabric - as you can imagine, it is something that is close to my heart!
Have a good weekend!
Cherri
Well, I want to be like YOU and Pam and Monica. How cute is that yo you kit??!! Some day I'll be a winner like you and i will chant, "Yes, Yes Des".
I love those little house prints! I DO plan on copying everything you do with pride!!
Oh dear!! Here I am up to my ying yang with dress sewing and now you've AGAIN got me to wanting to quilt.
I love your fabric fridays! That green door and window fabric is spectacular!
Looking at your fabrics is always a lovely lovely treat. Thanks so much for sharing :)
My great company grows! I feel so honored to be in such a great group of shoppers. I'm just getting ready to post about my kit from Jen. The kit was so cute, I had to take a deep breath before I cut into it.
I love your words about your home being a happy place. I couldn't agree more. Times are tough and scary (I'm certainly feeling it), and I think the best thing we can do is make our homes a happy place, and that's regardless of our economic times. As always, you inspire me Nanette! xoxoxoxo
You just HAVE to keep showing more gorgeous fabric don't you! Oh how I love your stuff.
What a lovely, inspiring post...I love your idea of making your home a peace haven..away from all the misery and horror..what a wonderful idea, I may borrow that! Very gorgeous house fabrics too!! Have a great weekend, Cathy
All those house fabrics are so nice. Love the vintage fabrics. I am going now to visit all the places you talked about on your blog.
All I seem to be doing is working, working, working and I'm getting grumpy! LOL
This morning I decided I needed to order a treat so I visited Jen's etsy shop and guess what(?) I ordered the same kit. Then I visit Pam's blog - there it is - now your blog - there it is! I thought it was an adorable kit and needed to belong to ME! LOL
Your house fabric is beautiful...it's fun for me to see all the vintage prints! Also, congrats on winning the giveaway--my friend just bought that magazine, and it's a good one!
These are so lovely - the vintage piece in your first photo reminds me of a piece of Eisenhart fabric I got recently (I think it was on my blog a couple of weeks ago ...) First snow! That's kind of exciting! And thanks for a nice peaceful message - a good thought for ushering in the weekend.
Oh, I just love your fabric, if you are like me, you take it out look at it, feel it, re-fold it and put it away. Someday you will use it and the project will be wonderful!
I love all the house fabrics. You really have a great collection. The little pink and blue houses are my favorite. Your post was really nice. In the gloom and doom of the day, my husband and I lit a fire in the rock pit outside and just roasted hot dogs because it was such a lovely evening. It was just the two of us and the dog (who was constantly campaigning for a treat) but nice and comfortable. He's one of those who was planning to retire in a couple of years and now that time is a little further down the road. We are thankful, though, because he has a good job, we have a nice home and are more blessed than we deserve at times. I really like your Fabric Fridays. You inspire me and so many of us bloggers. Keep it up!!!
Fabulous Fabric I should say! Wonderful pieces, Nanette. I'm starting to look forward to these posts!---Lord knows how fast the end of the week rolls around...may as well have something wonderful like this to look forward to! Thanks for the shout out...I sold the last two kits shortly after you posted. Between you and Pam and Monica posting today I sure wish I had more made up! :-)
Well Nanette, you already know how I feel about your taste and your lovely inspiring creations. I'm your fan my friend!!!!! I get a healthy dose of inspiration here every visit!
I love that door fabric!!! Where did you get it? Thanks too for the reminder of the party!
oh, oh oh i'm in house heaven. what a wonderful collection. i just adore that one with the doors and shutters.
You have some of the most amazing fabrics!! That Japanese print is wonderful!
You are so right about the home being a safe refuge. You also have the best stash ever--we share a love of fabric and very similar tastes in colors and patterns.
I am seeing the "snow" word come up in posts lately. I am sooooo not ready!!!
O.K. I think it's time we put you on Give Away Probation! LOL. My word girl, you're on a streak. Winning streak that is. ;o) ooxx`jod
You always have such lovely fabric finds. I was shop hopping this week but I couldn't find Sew Right. Could you let me know where it is. Thanks
I just discovered your blog and I'm enjoying your posts so much.
You make me smile every week with your wonderful fabric display. It's always such fun! I love the kit you bought from Jen Duncan, and I went to see if I could copy you and Pam and Monica, but she's all out! It is adorable - I don't think I could part with it if I were you!
