Checkerboard Bag and Civil War Fabric

I decided to make something hand-made for my friend's birthday. Knowing her favorite color is hot pink, I decided to make her a little bag, hilighting this color. I used some merino wool yarn from Knit Picks. I worked it in a checkerboard pattern, and felted it (I am in LOVE with felting lately). For handles, I attatched 2 i-cords worked in the dark blue. It was a lot of fun to make, and I really hope she likes it!-

My Civil War fabrics arrived from Purl for my Dear Jane Quilt. I do like them but the colors are pretty drab for my 30's-50's fabric taste. Its good to do something out of my comfort zone once in a while. And I got Brenda's book in the mail, too. I've got some serious sewing to do this weekend to keep my Etsy store stocked. I'm not complaining! - nanette

I'll be looking forward to your Dear Jane, even though my tastes are for more color too. You'll do a great job I'm sure!
