Fabulous Fabric Friday and Japanese Fabric for Day 6

Hello everyone. Your comments continue to delight, enlighten, and bury me! I am reading them all but I haven't quite found the time to comment back to everyone, but I know you will understand. This has been an insane week but incredibly fun. I am enjoying the party.

So today is FFF, my regular Friday feature. For today's featured giveaway I thought I would put together a charm square pack of some of my favorite fabrics from Japan. If you are a regular here you know I have a passion for vintage, novelty(especially kitchen) and just plain old "different" fabric.
Here are 40 different 5" squares of Japanese import fabrics that represent some I've been collecting for years now. There is no common color or theme. They are all just fabric that I like. I've been asked where do I get my fabric. If I am looking for something very specific I usually go to Etsy.com first. I like buying from independent sources. They have a search feature and you can find just about anything there. If I am just window shopping I search "Japanese fabric" in the supplies. I also have some other sources on my side bar. I'm sure most of you are familiar with those retailers. Of course the best deals are when they have sales. I rarely buy a large piece of fabric. I'd rather have smaller bits and more variety.Along with the charm pack is a Japanese Patchwork book. And yes, the instructions are all in Japanese - but I learn from pictures anyway so I've been able to get over that obstacle. However, keep in mind they make things very tiny in these books so often I enlarge projects to suit me. Below are just a few of the highlights from the book. Click to enlarge (I hope).

So people, you know what to do, leave a comment to enter for a chance to win today's little prize. Tomorrow is the last day. Next week I'll list the winners in order and they can choose their prizes in the order picked. Fun fun. I can hardly wait.

I love all those old fashion fabric also....I love the cutesy Japanese fabric. I guess living on the west coast help finding them. I've never seen any of those fabrics before only on your blog. But I love all their techs and such. You are such a neat finder of great things. I've been wondering where do the Japanese grow cotton and such for their material? And in Aussie where do they get material from.....questions guestions.....Lyda

Wow a 40 pack of japanese fabric charms and a book to boot. Holy cow! Every day this week has been a amazing prize. Thank you for all of the fun!!

Super cute - I'm becoming a fan of the Japanese fabrics...I was able to find "girly" airplane fabric only in a Japanese fabric from Purl - all the American designers use the traditional boy colors in their designs! And I really love the Echino Nico prints, although they aren't as cutesy.

How generous to raid your own stash! Your fabrics are so unique, unlike the fabrics I buy. How fun it would be to win those!

whuh...oouuu nanette...i'm quickly learning i'm not as young as i used to be... all this partying and excitement....i'm exhausted....i'll be glad when i can claim my prize and go home...i will say it would be so hard to pick from such 'goodies'....this fabric is to 'die' for!!....oh, and in answer to an above question..i don't think japan grows it's own cotton...they import it in....long ago they got most of it from china and india....now, the u.s. supplies them along with some others...like australia......wouldn't it be something if some of 'my' little cotton was shipped to japan and ended up being woven into some of these fabulous fabrics you are offering today........hhhmmmm

Wow Nanette! What a great prize today!

I always like your fabric Fridays, and now you'll let one of us share in your stash. Great! I love the little Japanese crafts, but the way they print out the pattern pages make me crazy! I'm anxious to see who wins out of all these entries. -- Michele

Very cute prize indeed.
I was playing with EQ last night and "think" I've gotten the pattern down :)
Now to find some time to make that and the wreath pattern I found in my HUGE box of patterns. I'd love to have my star back in the bedroom where it belongs...or do I just make a new one??? Decisions, decisions...enjoy your day.

I love all the fabric charms. They're so sweet! I have 2 of the Japanesse craft books. I don't have the one you have posted. You're going to laugh at this. When bought my first Japanese craft book it drove me crazy that I didn't know what they were saying. So, when my husband and I were in a book store one night, he found me over in a corner with a "Japanese for Dummies" book trying to understand what they were saying. I guess I'm really dumb because I still don't understand! I do love them, though, and the photos and directions look like they're easy to understand without really knowing what they're writing. The little blocks you have made are precious.

Once again, Nanette, what a wonderful giveaway. I can hardly believe it. I've just recently discovered the Janpanese fabric line. In Holland I haven't seen them anywhere. I think the 5" squares wouldn't be safe here with my 17 year old daughter. And the book ... my daughter is really into Chinese. I guess she wouldn't recognize it being Japanese ... (She'll probably hate me for saying this).
Hope you can find some time for yourself and if not today, probably in a week or two.
Have a great, fun, relaxing weekend.
