I hope to have time this week to quilt this table runner. I am excited to get this project finished and give it to my friend. Picking out fabrics and putting the colors and prints together really is so much fun.
This is a 2nd project with the same pattern. I'm making a table topper and the open space between the roofs created a place to applique the kettle. I'm using the Lori Holt method of applique for my kettles. My applique got so much better after my personal Lori class she gave me several months ago. Lori is an applique STAR.
The color palette for this project is different. I had to really search my stash to pick out fabrics that I thought went together.
I am not sure how I'm going to finish off this project around the borders. I'm still trying to decide if I should keep the border large or small. After I applique the teapot I think I'll know how to proceed.
Projects like this fuel my life with creative enjoyment. I know I use the word fun a lot but making these 2 table toppers is really so much fun. Women work so hard and life gets so busy that we all need play time in our lives.

Oh how darling, and you are right picking out the fabric is so much fun, good thing we have bigs stashs!!!
Boy that last picture almost looks like an apron with an armhole up there in the middle or something. There are really cute Nanette!
love your pattern! and i'm thrilled you are getting just a little time to play...☺
Nanette, you amaze me! Every time I think you've hit the peak, you go a little higher. Those all look so pretty, and I love your gift for matching fabrics.
Love this color palette Nanette. Picking out fabrics is truly FUN, you are right. And putting together such cute little projects is really joyful. Your enthusiasm is quite contagious!! Love that Grandmother's Flower Garden fabric!!
These are so sweet - lucky friends!
I need to order that teapot pattern and soon! :-)
Yes, the colors of fabrics do look a little different then we are used to seeing you work in but I love them. You have such an eye for color and fabrics.
I really think that you have the happiest patterns and quilts. I love the way you think of quilting as play. Now I feel good for today!
These are great smaller projects and they do look like they're a heap of fun. I love looking at your fabric choices, they are always so happy looking.
I agree with Janet. Your fabric choices just scream "happy" as do your projects.
Thanks for the inspiration and the "feel good" feelings.
These are really nice. I would like to make them for my kitchen. I like your blog, I found very lovely quilts. Thanks a lot.
These are delightful. I love the colors you used.
You are so right Nanette! We all need some "play time" in our lives, especially us gals; and it sure looks like you've been putting "your play time" to good use! Everything is darling :)
I agree. If I didn't have some creative fun, I would have a hard time getting through the day-to-day humdrum of life. I am never bored because I have a list a mile long of "creative fun" projects that I want to make! :-)
I just love those projects you have going on & with Lori helping to influence the applique technique. How can you go wrong? LOL I love Lori's work. You both are an inspiration to me! Fun is what it's all about. :)
I think I need to go up North some time and ask Lori to teach me her method of applique. I agree, she is the master.
These are darling! I am a big rick rack fan and I love the little bit peeking out at the roof line of the house!
You are so talented - they are beautiful! I love the ric rac, too. Can you ever go wrong with ric rac? :)
Whatever you do with those designs is going to be super cute Nanette. Thanks so much for the fabric link! I was getting so tired of googling around for it. (wonder why SMS didn't come up?)
Nanette, I love the pairing up of the house and the kettle blocks for a runner...very fun.
You're applique looks great! Thank you for the kind words, you are always so sweet.
I think you're so right about women needing to create...a must for me!
happy everything,
Lori
Nanette - I love your pattern - and your fabric choices! All the little fussy-cut pieces! Perfect!
I'm sure you'll "know" how wide to make the border - whatever "feels" right is right!

Those are all so cute!! What a fun pattern :)
Hi Nanette aka Nanny, I love your cottages with the kettles! The ric rac sure makes them. Darling! I adore your fabric collection too. Have a great weekend!
Totally agree, we need time to relax and sew. It so rejuvinating.
OMG! SO cute!
I love that you've added little kitchen scenes in the windows.
So creative.
Kimberly :)
I wish I had someone like Lori or Carrie to sit down with and show me the tricks to applique. No matter how much I practice I never seem to get any better.. and needle turning is still so foreign to me.
Your table runners are going to be a huge hit. I love your combination of colors and fabrics. :-)
